Why is the Lumia 930 not being released in the US and Canada yet?

Can someone explain the marketing logic of not releasing the Lumia 930 here in North America at the same time as it is being released in Europe?

The Lumia 930 is the global version of the Lumia Icon which is a verizon exclusive, US carriers like to exercise their power over OEMs where they can.
Which is why the 1020, 920, 1520 etc have been locked to AT&T and not been released on other carriers, if they did not exercise their might they would be reduced to a dumb pipe (which is what they should be, as at the end of the day they are no different then any other utility provider).

Wow. Very different than here in Canada. EG The Lumia 830 is being released on all three major carriers.
Is this true for Samsung and iPhone as well?

Originally AT&T did have the hold on the iPhone but as popularity gained all carriers wanted it. I'm sure Apple holds the cards in that situation.

It is reported that Apple sell about 50% of their iPhones in the U.S. through their Apple Online and Retail Stores!

And I think that is the direction MS needs to go as well if it is serious about really breaking into the mobile market.
Great devices and OS are two pieces of the puzzle.
But a great Store - with functionality that matches iTunes and apple.com - is a third piece that MS has just not gotten right - so far.
