Why my Microsoft Lumia 535 mobile does not sense object?

When My Lumia 535 mobile is on call it should sense object in front of it to turn off the screen light. But its not working for my mobile. I checked other nokia touch screen mobile, this functionality is working fine for them. why not for lumia 535.

Your proximity sensor might be damaged or there is some dirt in front of the sensor and between the glass in the front.

I visited to nokia care. They are telling it wont work. The censer is working for human body but not other objects. Please help me for this problem....

Maybe your Lumia 535 is damaged.. why not replace it with a new one?
