Why won't my 950 turn back on?

I was messaging on my 950, it made a continuous high pitched noise, froze and turned off... Now will not turn back on. Just vibrates when the power button is pressed or power plugged in, nothing comes up on screen.
Have taken battery out and put back in, still won't turn on.... Have depressed down volume button and power button at same time as well.
now have SIM card in old 1020.

Phone is less than a week old.

Was it getting hot when it did that? I'd advise you either take it in to the MIcrosoft store or contact Microsoft support. Sounds like a hardware problem from a dud device.

It was marginally warm, nothing compared to what it was like when I first got the phone....
I got the phone from a telco, not the Microsoft store
