Why won't Wechat install on my Lumia 735?

Wechat wont install on lumia 735

I cant install wechat on my lumia 735. It will start downloading and then proceed with installing. After a while, it will say attention required. i will retry and it goes to this same loop again. I tried installing apps in SD card and phone and its all the same. Help please

Hello and welcome to Windows Central.

Are you presented with any error code? Have you tried restarting your phone?

If yes, then you may try the following (which other users have reported to work for that kind of problem):
1. Disable automatic date and time zone in Settings > date+time.
2. Go to email+accounts and sync your Microsoft account.
3. Once it's done synchronizing, you may restart your phone (other users say this is not needed).
4. Go back to the store and attempt to download the app again.
5. Re-enable automatic date and time zone settings.

Unfortunately, still the same problem. There is no error code. Install is done via data service. Should I try it via wifi?

My friend has the same phone and the same soft 8.1 update 2. he tried installing it and he has no problem. I check his phone setting and his auto date and time is even on. I noticed that when I search for it in the apps store, it indicate that wechat is already "owned". Maybe I should disowned it first. But how do I do this?

You're welcome, and welcome to Windows Central.

No, you don't need to "disown" it first - that just tells the user that it has been previously downloaded already. That is especially useful for apps that need to be purchased, but since WeChat is free, then it really doesn't mean anything.

The six procedures outline includes disabling, and then later re-enabling, the automatic time zone setting. It's included as part of the process of forcing the synchronization of the Microsoft account, which others have found to be the issue in the not being able to download apps from the store. Having the auto time zone on doesn't necessarily always interfere with downloads.

It's possible that the data connection is unstable; yes, you may try using Wi-Fi connection for your download. Feel free to update us with your findings.

Tried downloading via wifi and its the same. What is interesting is that my friend and I used the same phone with the same soft version and he was able to download and install it. I can download and start the installation. In the middle of the installation, it suddenly stops and is asking me to tap here due attention required. This is really frustrating since my friend can install it in his phone. Thanks,

I notice that in my friends phone Microsoft Account Setting, his server start with snt-407 while my server start with snt-406. Is there a difference between snt-407 and snt-406? I cant change to snt-407. thanks,

Why can't you change to snt-407? In my phone, I can change the server (of course if I put the wrong values, it won't work anymore). I have bay407-........ in my sever settings. Can you attach a screenshot of what you're seeing in your Microsoft account settings? (But edit the screenshot such that your email address/contact information will not be visible - this is important).

I can change it to 407 and hit the check button. But when I sync again, its back to 406.

I'm not sure, then. But I forgot to ask: have you tried cancelling the download, restarting your phone, and then restarting the download?

Yes sir. Have done this many times and still the same problem. This is very challenging. Im now thinking of doing a full phone reset.

I'm afraid that will be your last resort in finding a solution. Not all hard resets work, but we won't know unless it has been done.
