WiFi-sharing not working with my MacBook and 1020

I have a Lumia 1020 which I?m trying to share a wifi connection with my mid 2011 macbook air. The macbook connects, but then disconnects after about 1 minute. My wife?s macbook (mid/late 2012) does not have this problem. Any suggestions as to what I need to do?

Does WiFi sharing work with your phone on her computer, or with her phone on your computer?

It works with my phone (1020) on her computer. She has an iphone, so wifi sharing works on both our macbooks with her phone.
