I have to hard reset my phone because my email was compromised and locked by Microsoft, phone won't let me change it. So will hard resetting revert me back to when I got it when I bought it? I had enough installation problems as it was before.
Hard resetting resets all settings to factory, but will not revert back to Windows Phone 8.0.
If you have a Nokia, to revert to WP8.0, you can get the Nokia Software Recovery Tool.
But a hard reset will not remove Windows Phone 8.1.
INCORRECT. A hard reset will wipe out all data on the device. I would avoid telling someone that if will not delete their contacts. As long as they are syinced with a location, they will be safe.
A hard reset will wipe the phone like the day you go it but 8.1 is a OS update and that will be on the device unless you roll back with a Nokoa tool
If they are stored in your SIM, then they will NOT be deleted. A hard reset of the phone does not affect the SIM.
To be absolutely safe and sure, remove the SIM before resetting your phone.
To be safe add a Gmail account to your phone and syc your contact book to the Gmail address. That way it will be backed up. Afterwords sync to that Gmail and it will bring the contacts back on the phone.
If you want to roll back to 8.0 you can try this. http://forums.windowscentral.com/wi...-quietly-releases-software-recovery-tool.html
As suggested you will want to sync your contacts. The suggestion above might be good to try if your MS account is having issues. I just used this to roll back a Lumia 520 I use as a media device back to 8.0 as 8.1 was giving it (and me) fits.
