Win 8.1 Recovery Image Download No Longer on MS Website?

When I enter the serial no. it only gives me a w10 image to download? It came pre-loaded with 8.1...

I can't post links yet but just add microsoft.com in front of that.

They said that you no longer can get the 8.1 image.

If you still have access to the Windows_81_mediacreationtool.exe you still can download it from the website.

They probably just offer the most recent image for the device.

If you S3 came with the 8.1 image why do you need to dl a image?
If you want to roll back just reset it and it will use the 8.1 image at least mine did yesterday and I had W10 installed before I reset.

Unless the OP reformatted their Surface 3, removed the Recovery Partition and didn't make the Recovery Media.

Just checked, I actually have both 8.1 and 10 options when I log in. Try registering your device with MS first and then pull it up by using your Microsoft sign-in instead of putting in the serial number.

I only have the option to download a Windows 10 image. Could that be because the S3 came with Windows 10 installed? Did your tablet originally have Windows 8.1 installed?
