Windows Phone 10 Battery Life

[Windows Central Question]

I upgraded my Nokia Lumia Icon from 8.1 to the most current slow ring build of Win 10 Mobile. Since upgrading to Win 10 my Icon's battery life is horrible. Within a couple hours my phone will drop 30-40% with little to no use.

I am curious, is this a problem experienced by others? I am wondering if a clean install of Win 10 Mobile will solve/help the problem (I did not do a clean upgrade to Win 10), or if this is just "the nature of the beast?"

Same here on lumia 925...with w10m i lost at least 20% of battery life.

Also just put latest slow ring update on my Icon and did hard reset. Battery life is decreased by about half.

Hard resetting after an upgrade should be first thing upon encountering issues.

U have to tinker with the settings on the phone

go to background apps turn off all the background apps u don't need running wasting your battery
go to privacy and turn off all the permissions u don't need
turn off nfc and Bluetooth if u don't use them
turn off motion data if u don't use it
go to battery saver and see whats using up your battery the most and turn that off in background apps if u don't need it as well.

also when yoo are connected to wifi turn off cellular data theres no reason for both of them to be on if u get a incoming mms u can easily turn it back on and download the mms then cut it back off. basically just manage the phone settings better. Microsoft imo left a lot of things on that didn't/doesn't need to be on

I normally turn off background for Edge. That is enough for me.
Does battery saver give you a clue?

System 21%, display 74%, wifi 4.5%, cellular 0.5% over last week.

Brightness is auto. I notice if I set it to low it is actually brighter...
