Windows Phone app/desktop app doesn't detect phone

Today I connected my Nokia Lumia 920 to my laptop via USB and... nothing happened. Both the Windows 8-app and the desktop app didn't recognise my phone, while yesterday it did?

Does anyone know what's going on and how I can fix this?

Try turning location off then doing the following in order, this helped for me when Visual Studio stopped connecting to my WP7 device:

1. Bluetooth on
2. Bluetooth off
3. Wifi on
4. Internet sharing on
5. Internet sharing off
6. Wifi off
