windows update has made my surface 2 slower!?

this morning i got a pop up saying that my surface 2 had windows updates it needed to do, so i let it do it then instead of waiting for it to do it automatically. this even after i got back from work i went to use it again, and even simple things like going to your internet bookmarks on takes ages, worked fine before. only thing the update fixed is my bing weather live tile now works (sort of). any ideas what caused it?

The only update I got today was one for RT Drivers and it has no difference to the snappiness of my Surface2. Interestingly, I did not get this update for my Surface RT (the 1st Gen device) though.

I seem to remember that there was a firmware update of sorts a few days back. But I can't say that it made things worse (or better, for that matter).
