wireless charging with CR-201 in-car charger

My Lumia 950 doesn't charge well on the CR-201 in car charger. It connects and disconnects every 10 seconds or so, making usual chime, when it connects with monotonous regularity. That's makes a nuisance when bluetooth streaming as the chimes stream too. Flicking to ringer off stops that though.
It charges fine using the DT-910 desk standing charger. So I don't think it's a case issue, though I have a Mozo case on order. Maybe that will improve it.

I had issues with my DT-910 charging stand. It wouldn't charge at all. Not sure if the size of the phone, or location of the coil had anything to do with it. But I have the XL. Bought the Plexion, and it worked great.

It is to do with the placement of the charging coils, I think.

I actually notice worse battery drain in the car charger as every time the power kicks in it activates hello. I am going to unplug the cradle so I can still use it for nav but I don't even think the USB C can fit through the slot to charge that way.

It does, that's what I've been doing, but be careful it's also bent the plug because of the angle.

I have this problem with my Lumia 920 & the CR-201. With WP8.1 it triggered Cortana but with the W10M Preview it just triggers the charging chime as you experienced.

When I bought the lumia 830 it would rarely ever charge on my car charger. . thrtr is a thread on it in the MS community. Mmany people had the same issue except those in the US who had the additional charging format within the backplate. However, after i received 10586 in the Insider programme the phone began to charge perfectly. There must be some kind of OS charging alogarithm for this. Now, I have the L950 and have charging difficulties. . When placed in the holder the phone continuously begins to charge and then stops. This is particularly annoying at night because the phone lights up then goes dim and then off as it should. It then lights up again and continues this sequence. And as all of th?s goes on the battery discharges. Anyone found the same issue with the CR 201 car charger?

Wireless charging suck on this phone, i had Lumia 920 and 1520 and CR201 for car and DT 901 at desk, and lumia 950 doesn't work in car (sometime it does sometime it doesn't) and same on stand, sometimes its charging, sometimes completely drains my phone.

I have read many people have this issue but no official info. And that sucks, because i need QI charger in car.

I'm guessing you mean the DT-910 charging stand, as the DT-901 is the Fatboy charging pillow. I've had the same phones as you, with the 920 and 1520 working fine with both the DT-910 and the CR-201, but my 950 does the same thing in the CR-201 as everyone else, charging on and off repeatedly. My guess is that the qi coil in the CR-201 is mounted -slightly- lower than the other chargers, and the 950 isn't making a solid connection to it, barely getting a connection and then dropping it. I'm not willing to break / cut the bottom tab off my CR-201 to test if mounting it slightly lower would help, though, like the 950 XL guys do (check their forum threads about it,) as it was a fairly expensive and really nice charger, and I'd rather not hack it up.

My 950 works fine in all three of my DT-910 charging stands, fully charging like normal. I haven't had any issues with it with them.

I really can't believe MS designed the 950s with the qi coils mounted improperly and breaking their compatibility. It's inconceivable that they made it through QA testing without finding this.

Mine 950 does charge in my DT-901 but in my 201 it actually discharges :-/

I have a supprot ticket with MS Denmark because when using either 901 or 201 the screen is distorted by horizontal noice. Its very clear an pretty anoying.

I have just got a reply from MS regarding this, and their answer was: "Yes, the 950 screen will flicker when charging with 901 og 201 - that is not a error in neither your 950, 910 og 201"

So bascially they are telling me, that there is a design flaw in the 950 so that the intereference from the charging pad causes disturbences to the screen - but they won't fix it.

"I bought the Samsung car qi charger s. I read somewhere it would fit.
Absolutely happy with it. The mount's arms are nearly exactly between the 950's Buttons. The power button is touched a Little, but even if I press the arms on it very Tight it is not pressed automatically but I can reach and press it.
The charging works VERY fine, no pauses, also as fast as on a QI pad at home, I was very impressed.
It not only holds the battery energy but also charges it even when Navigation active, watching tv over LTE or something.

Also very cool: it also charges when the phone is in a bumper/case - and with that on the phone is in the Mount a Little higher and so the arm is EXACTLY between the Buttons - works fine! "
