I have above set up and I simply cannot get the phone to charge in the car holder. If I move it around a little when it is clamped in it will charge for a few minutes then stop. I bought all of the coloured back plates on ebay and I have the same problem as I have with the original black one supplied with the phone (RM-984). The phone charges perfectly with my DT-900 and DT-910. Has anyone else found this problem with the car charger?

Hi, I have the same setup but mine works fine but sometimes, the phone lights up again as if I just put it on the charger.

I also have the CR 201 but with Lumia 925, 820 and 930 I have never had above problem. But when I set it up I had a problem to get good contact. I mean the plug in the car socket gave problems. After some tweaking it made good contact.

Well, this is what is happening to mine. Very often the phone lights up on its own sitting in the holder. And I can tell you that when this happens it is the phone being disconnected from the charging system. So your charging seems intermittent as well. Next time it happens you please look at the battery meter on the phone and I bet its not charging! Update me here because I believe this is going to be a real problem between the 830 and the CR-201 charger. And the thing is my other charging plates at home work brilliantly so it does not seem to be the 830 back plate. Having said that I can move around the phone on the in house back plate to ensure connection; I cannot do that in the car charger.

Yes I have had no problems with my 820 or indeed with my last 720 so I know that my CR-201 is working fine. And a friend has the 930 which also charges on my car charger perfectly. So, I believe the positioning of the coil within the 830 back plate may not be quite correct therefore allowing for intermittent charging. I have tried everything I can and it simply will not charge continuously. Whilst the phone is in the CR-201 it often lights up and this happens when the charging power to the phone stops. I cannot believe that no one at Microsoft thought of checking compatibility with the this car charger in particular. It is essential that, in the case of the car charger, the coils are correctly aligned within the back plate to ensure correct and continuous conductivity.

Can you connect the CR-201 with the cable from your other QI to a USB port from your computer and than try to charge?
Or use the USB slot on the CR201 to rule out bad contact of the plug.

Disregard above because I just saw your above post.

I have just had the CR-201 replaced with a new one because I though that was the fault and it is not. Also, I have another CR-201 in another car that I use and the exact same thing happens. Please check yours next time the phone lights up.

Hi, yes I will check that tonight when I go pick up my son and I will report back. I have the other plates at home and the one at the office (standing one) and they work perfectly.

Thank you. When the phone lights up it will stop charging; at least that is what I find. During a 30 minute trip my phone lights up about 5 or 6 times during the first 10 minutes then stops charging altogether! I also know because the glance screen goes off completely; another tell tale sign.

I find that this happens when it's below 50. Above that, it doesn't lose charge connection at all.

You mesn if the battery is below a 50% charge then you have a problem between the phone and the CR-200/201 charger? Which phone do you have? I will check tonight if my phone will charge up if the battery is higher than 50%; I can charge on the DT-910 in the office. I will let you know tomorrow. So far the 830 simply does not like the Nokia CR chargers!!

Ok I'm back... So yesterday I tried it again and it gets disconnected from the charger but it is hard to notice since it get reconnected right after.... I've notice that it did this when my charger was cold (winter here) but when it was warm in the car it stopped doing it.

I will check more this weekend since I will travel a lot more.

I have the same problem with L830 and CR-200. it looks like a firmware bug

I have tried everything and I cant get it to charge properly. Sometimes it will charge and then stop. I know this as the phone lights up in the cradle quite often and it should not. Also, I loose the glance screen when it stops charging.
I bought another 3 back plates thinking it might be mine (and also I wanted the option of different colours) and they are all the same; I still have one to try tomorrow.

I have started a thread over on Microsoft support fotrums. Microsoft have replied me already. I would ask all of you reading this with the same problem to go yo this thread and register your thoughts there. Please see short cut below...

I haven't tried yet as I was afraid to buy DT-90x but if you claim that is working without any problems I will take a risk

Ok I think I've find the issue with the car charger and the Lumia 830. The charger was made for thicker phones like the Lumia 920. Now on the bottom of the charger where is the type of hook, I've put a piece of paper the thickness of about 2 credit cards and bingo, my phone is now charging and I don't hear the disconnect on the time. Try it and let me know.

Yes, this is kind of what i do. I pull out the bottom of the phone from the charger as far as I can and it charges ok. But, we should not have to do this.

Yeah that's true! But let's not forget that this car charger was originally made foe the 920 which was a thicker phone. I prefer doing this then like the iPhone changing my accessories because the power plugin has changed 😉
