A possible work around?

Set up "Kids Corner" and just put your EMail tiles there. They won't take up any room on your start screen and, if that's all that's in Kids Corner then you can make the tiles any size you want.

Hmmm, OK, never mind that. I just tried and it won't let you pin Email Tiles to Kids Corner. That is strange.
