I'm actually more excited about Microsoft's individual products than I am about their ecosystem. I guess some could call me a ****** because I own so many of their products. However, I don't champion Microsoft because its Microsoft. It just so happens they have to products I prefer using. I knew pre-WP7 that I wasn't a fan of iOS/Android. In fact, I was leaning more towards... Blackberry (cue laugh track).
When I saw WP I was like, "OMG WTF BBQ!" I immediately knew I had to have it. And I'm having a lot of fun with WP despite its flaws. I even remember when the first Xbox came out. At that time I was all Playstation'ed up. Couldn't leave it alone. Went over to a friend's house, played Halo, haven't looked back since (though I will say that the last few years of PS3/360 games have left me unimpressed).
I got the original Zune MP3 player and it bricked on me. Tried a few other MP3 players before finally buying a Zune HD and Zune Pass. Too good! Unlimited music downloads and SmartDJ taught me to appreciate many different types of music.
Yet, I've never cared how they've operated as one ecosystem. Maybe that's simply because I've yet to experience a true integrated Microsoft ecosystem. But I've always preferred the enjoyment I get out of their individual products. WP8 being an extension of Windows 8 could be cool, but I'm more excited about OIS and PureView on the 920 than I am about how it integrates with Windows 8. And I would like to use Skydrive more but data caps and slow 3G/4G speeds makes it hard to get excited.
But I am excited to see how Smart Glass is integrated into the Microsoft ecosystem.
