Why is Edge using so much battery?

I've noticed recently that my battery life has been dramatically reduced, and I think it could be due to Edge, does anyone if there's a way to reduce the amount of battery life eaten up be Edge

Close the background process, make sure that you don't leave any page opened while SUSPENDING the app & finally close it from the multitasking menu. I can guarantee you that performing these mentioned actions does INCREASE battery life.

It's not when its closed, When I use edge, the battery drains very fast. I use IE11 and its fine. I just don't use EDGE unless I have to.
