Is the polycarbonate case on the Lumia 900 different from the Lumia 800?

I keep reading that the polycarbonate case on the 900 has a matte finish to it. Does the 800 have a matte finish too? I held the 800 just the other day at the Hong Kong airport and the surface was very smooth and I did not think it had a 'matte' finish.

Can somebody that has played with both the 900 and the 800 comment on any differences in the surface finish of the two polycarbonate cases?

Both have a matte finish (except for the white model, which is glossy). However, the 800's polycarbonate is denser, giving it a smoother finish.

From what I remember of the 900 in store, it seems the same as my 800. I'll be sure this afternoon by 4:30 ;)

I have heard that the finish gets smoother over time

I have both the finish is the same however the 900 feels a little rougher on the finis were as the 800 is smoother. Makes the 900 feel a little more grip able.

Awesome. Thanks! I am guessing the rougher finish on the 900 will do a better job when it comes to curbing finger prints?

Yes, if you use it without a case as I do. The finish is actually a coating that can wear over time. In fact, on my 800 the coating is peeling a little around the front speaker.

The 800 doesn't collect fingerprints either, unless your fingers are really oily and you look closely.

Yup, it's definitely different. The 900 doesn't feel quite as solid, though the finish of the material is slightly easier to grip. You also notice the curves more in the 800. They're not quite as pronounced in the 900. You'll notice this when you flip the phone over and look at it from the back.
