I'd love the Microsoft/Nokia buyout to yield a "shrunk-in-the-wash Surface"-style phone with 1520-specs but a sensible screen size; black VaporMg body, angular edges. Running WinPho 8.1 preferably, or I could live with maybe some phone-oriented version of RT.

I'd push it to 3.8 or 4 and include onscreen buttons but otherwise I agree.

This is a nice design. I'm not a huger fan of the bright colored plastic 'toys'.

This plus:
AMOLED screen for power savings, although double screen would help (like that ??Yota Russian Android phone)
Google apps or 3rd party (Damn Google is shutting down some on May 1st)
Something like Trusted Device on the Motoroloa phones (maybe a smartwatch app that keeps phone unlocked if connected)
Native tethering, so no carrier firmware to block this
Colored notification light (as someone mentioned previously)
Price of Lumia 520

This is the single most important requirement for any of our dream phones. Windows Phone's market share will never grow in Canada and the USofA as long as carrier exclusives continue for the flagship devices, leaving many of us frustrated without the phones that we want, and unable to shut up and have Microsoft / Nokia take our money!

I would love to see (besides WP8.1 being really competitive), MS/Nokia simplifying their lineup across the board.

6", 4.5-5", 4" a nice full featured version for each, and a more budget, prepaid, etc, version as well. Maybe one stock size of memory to reduce SKU's, 32 for the high end, 16 but maybe 8 on the lower end, but micro-SD for all.

Something like the 1520/1320, Icon/current 92x tech, a new 4" flagship level model, and something like 525 but add in ffc. Done.

Possibly another extremely budget version for developing countries, but honestly, electronics prices continue to fall...and MS can push things a bit.

Edit: the occasional niche model like the 1020 is fine too...as long as it hits VZW too

well, when the plastic is thick enough and rugged.....it makes a very sturdy phone....so if you drop it... it would less break this inside...

A thinner 1020 with a quad core snapdragon and lots of apps. Seriously. I'd stomp my iPhone 5s and Nexus 5 to pieces if I could at least get more apps and a swype kb.

I want a 1020 with the OPTION to buy a Qi shell, 4k recording, snapdragon 805, faster image processing, better low light, new gorilla glass tech, a much improved FFS, 5 inch 1080p screen, Glace support, the navigation bar instead of capacitive buttons, improved speakers, microUSB 3.0, VERY improved battery life, and a sexy design (the current 1020 looks nice already).
