I love my Lumia 920 - phone is beautiful, system smooth and fuctional. But there's a thing - I want apps and games from iOS/Android devices. Do you think that WP Store will be as broad and packed with premium and free stuff like App Store and Google Play in the coming years? Although I have a third gen iPad, I prefer Windows ecosystem, and would rather play let say Deus Ex: The Fall on my Lumia than Apple's overpriced and overhyped devices. Maybe Microsoft isn't investing as much money in WP8 as it should?

Microsoft has been doing exactly the right thing - working with partners like Unity that developers use to make games. By doing that, new games can be released on all platforms including Windows and Windows Phone.

You have to remember Microsoft faces a massive challenge - being the third platform means less devices and so less potential revenue for developers. Catch-22. Phones need apps, apps need lots of phones.

However Nokia's current strategy of pushing sub-$100 phones into the US on all carriers should help sell a lot more phones here. The 625 and 520 worldwide should help push sales too as they are a value hard to beat. So we're getting more phones.

The number of headline apps that have been released this year so far is a testimony to platform acceptance by developers... so things are getting quickly better.

Enjoy your 920. I know I enjoy mine! Best thing is to enthuse your camera and features you like to friends - the more that have the phone, the better for everyone!

In order to catch up... they need:

  • To make it easy for developers to create an app once, and have it work accross Windows 8, Windows Phone and XBOX
  • To unitfy their application store accross Windows 8, Windows Phone and XBOX ONE so you buy it once and can play it everywhere. This evens the playing field for "audience" since WP by itself is going to be the third choice for devs based on marketshare alone.
  • More time... The "new" Windows ecosystem is new. While its growing very rapidly it takes time to catch up. Also it takes time to integrate everything accross their ecosystem. Hopefully this will start with 8.1 but its no easy task.

Yeah, Halo: Spartan Assault is really nice I hope that MS wille start doing exclusive WP8/W8 games. But hey, where's Feedly and couple of other things that would be really handy to me. I know Feedly is coming to Windows devices, but they sure take their time. And YouTube...
