Hello everyone, I've just received a brand new cyan 920. I'm due at work in a little while and won't have time to customize it. I'm famiialr with windows phone, coming from a samsug focus that died on me a couple of months ago and can barely hold a battery charge. My question is do I need to upload my photos to Skydrive before I finally go with the 920? I know that all of my apps should come back but what about the rest of my stuff still residing on the Focus? Also, please direct me to any getting started threads. Thanks in advance, I"m so excited, been waiting for months for my upgrade to kick in!:winktongue:

Great news on your new phone, I'm sure you will love it. Alas app backup/restore is a WP8-only feature. But if you backup your photos to Skydrive they will be accessible on your 920 via the Pictures hub.

As you're already used to WP, most of the basics are the same. But here are few things to be aware of:

Zune is not used for WP8 (you have to install the Windows Phone sync client instead)
Check your 920 for build quality - there should be a consistent fit between screen and the body of the phone, and there should be no creaks or movement if you press down on any part of the phone (pay particular attention to the top of the phone). See also here: http://forums.windowscentral.com/no...ct-checklist-new-future-lumia-920-owners.html
Some people report issues with overheating (on the back of the phone) and/or battery life. My experience is that the phone might get a little warm with heavy use (long calls, intensive games or big downloads) and that battery life is directly related to screen activity. There's more discussion here: http://forums.windowscentral.com/nokia-lumia-920/215695-lumia-920-battery-your-opinions.html
Also have a read through this thread, some useful bits in here as well: http://forums.windowscentral.com/windows-phone-8/204483-wp8-newbie-tips.html
