My wifi is not connecting

I cannot connect to my access point on my laptop (created with netsh) with my Lumia 925. Other devices connect successfully but only the Lumia does not. I noticed it connects for the first time and disconnects after about 30 seconds and cannot connect again with Error (Connection unsuccessful, your phone couldn't reach the wifi network *Network Name*). It sometimes connects successfully when i set a random default gateway on the access point which also restricts internet access (there is no default gateway on the access point because it gets its internet from an internal shared source). its as if the Lumia 925 won't connect successfully with internet access until a direct path is set for internet access. It works with routers though but just not with my laptop's access point.
