emergency !!! phone locked by someone else

i gave my phone to a repair shop for some repairs. he returned it without repairs as it is not possible by him.
but, in that process, he tried to unlock my phone, which i had set up (PIN).
now, it showing some "try again in 83xx minutes".

what to do? i have my own PIN with me, but it says more than 5 days period to wait!!!
somebody help.

Well, this is my suggestion. I don't know if there is another way to fix it PROPERLY.

If there's stuff on there you want to keep, I would wait. If it can easily be replaced (ie you have a backup elsewhere) and you need the phone urgently, reset. In the meantime though, if you have a spare handset you could make use of that so you aren't completely uncontactable.

What about remote locking it from Windowsphone.com and then try to unlock it? Just a suggestion. Good luck

i think, i am going to format this phone now. just checking what i am going to loose. i.e. sms and whatsapp.

God blessed me. My phone unlocked itself and the pin screen appeared. Patience really paid up.

that would achieve the same end as a hard reset, so really no point just for that.

Ah, good to hear.

Fun fact, there is/was a bug in iOS where the lockscreen could become locked for the minute equivalent of 40 years.
