Bluetooth - Impossible to switch ON, what can I do?

Bluetooth - Impossible to switch ON

I have a new Lumia 950 with latest OS installed: 10.0.10586.420.
From the first minute I've used the device, I'm unable to use Bluetooth. In the Bluetooth menu, the Status = OFF and greyed out. So I'm not able to switch Bluetooth ON.

After 2 - 3 -... soft resets, it suddenly works again. But only for some hours.

I've already done 2 hard resets, same story. It works for a very short time.

Can someone advise me what to do?

since you've tried a hard reset, either try using windows device recovery tool to do a fresh install or install an insider fast build

I'm going to try the recovery tool now.
It seems a new Firmware update is available, so fingers crossed.

Hardware issue is not a possible cause?

the better option is that firmware update - that might be the solution

Fresh installation including firmware update, but still the same problem.


Edit: It's even worse now. Even after 5 soft resets, Bluetooth is still not enabling.
I'll try the insider's slow ring, should be 10.0.14367.0?

I see no other choice then to return it?

Unbelievable that simple basic functionality is still not working in 2016. They should better stop spending time on continuum and other gimmicks to make something reliable and working.

What a disappointment

if after firmware update, hard reset, slow ring update and all other methods do not work - then it's quite possible that your bluetooth hardware could be faulty. It could have been failing slowly over time and now it has failed completely

I'm assuming your device is still under warranty?

Device was received on Monday, so only 4 days old.
I will return it on DOA.

One more update: When I do a battery pull long enough, it starts to work. But 10 - 15 minutes later it's over and out again.

Sounds like faulty hardware if a hard reset didn't address it. Testing on Production builds would be better than Insider.

Works like a charm, so it was a hardware malfunctioning

Yup, this can happen with any device. It's just hard to determine if it's the beta software or hardware with W10M.
