Wife wanted to go to the park, and I so happened to have my 1020 with me. I really haven't taken many photos with it yet, so this was a good chance to see what it could do. I really like the bokeh that the 1020 produces, very pleasing. The colors, as others have said, are a bit over saturated, but I have to be honest, I kind of like it.

I also noticed that the 5 mp images are subject to quite a lot more sharpening in-camera than the hi-res images, and as a result, are much sharper out of the camera. I've read that the 1020 suffers from corner softness, as many cameras do, and I was specifically looking for this. I do believe the "High Voltage" images are a bit soft around the edges/corners, but I'll have to experiment a bit more before making any assumptions. All images were processed in Photoshop - but all I did was apply some Unsharp Mask, a bit of cropping, and Auto Smart Fix. All in all, I think the images look pretty damned impressive for a camera phone.

Taken in the parking lot of a fast food restaurant... my first picture with the lumia 1020. A quick question, I see people posting high and low res how do I know which one is which? Basically when I look in my camera roll album there is only one picture though the camera is set to take a high and low. Where or how do I find the differentiation?

you have to USB to your computer to see the highres shots. The filename is the same as the 5mp ones but ends in "highres"

A lot of photographers despise hdr, I look at it as an artistic aspect of photography made possible by technology. I likes it.

I like it but I don't use it all the time. HDR allows me to take a photo how I see it with my eyes. That sunset was absolutely beautiful and without HDR, either the sky or the ground would be overly bright or underly dark. I am not one to put crazy filters on the HDR or make it look overly crazy. This picture captures how I saw the sunset when I wasn't looking through the camera lens

Good lord.. if that photo is how you actually saw that sunset, I need to start taking some of whatever made you see this (hope you didn't have to drive anywhere) ... that with a little Paranoid by Black Sabbath playing in the background - paradise!! (Oh wowww, man .. the COLORS) :D

On a more serious note; with the advent of the 1020, an HDR program showed up in the store that I thought was well worth the money - HDR Photo Camera. You can customize the bracketing; the alignment is 100% perfect, and then when you go to the edit page, they have a number of HDR presets - so like your sunset you can goof around with tone mapping presets for some interesting effects - but they also have a "None" preset that is very conservative - just a flattened combination of the 3 photos to give you as close to what you see with your naked eye as possible. I use both - the one for artistry, the other for accurate depictions.. I think it's well worth the 2 or 3 dollars they charge for it and I use it quite a bit.

    NICE photo by the way!!

This picture, taken at Cedar Point, is a bit dark, but it's a thrill ride IN MOTION, and I can very clearly find my daughter in the photo. That's astounding.

Update: The first post said it would be resized, so...
