1520 acting strange

has anyone notice the black screen for lack of better words
sometimes shows the time and notifications at a better contrast then
at other times. i really don't see the need for it in the first place.
since it only comes on when charging. or for a short time when you
press the lock button. any other comments out there about this.

That's the glance screen. You can find it in settings. There you can adjust things like the amount of time it stays on and set up things like making the clock change colors at night. The biggest advantage to the Glance Screen besides the clock and notifications at a glance is that you can wake the phone up to the start screen by double tapping the screen. This saves clicks on the physical power button.
