Why is my Nokia Lumia 820 not charging?

Plugged my phone in to charge one night - woke up in the morning to find it hadn't been charging and shortly after the phone died. I tried plugging it into another charger (which was definitely working as it could charge other phones), taking the battery out, checking there was no damage, etc. but to no avail.

I bought a new Nokia battery today and it all seemed to be working fine again - however, the battery died on my way home and when I tried to charge it once again it isn't charging (with three separate chargers that all work with other phones).

So - it's not the battery because this one is brand new. I can't do any software updates or reboots because it won't turn on. I've left it in the charger just in case it's working secretly but it doesn't seem to be. What do I do?!

Have you tried the chargers in other devices?

Have you checked the port on the phone? Maybe it needs cleaning or a gust of air from canned air.

Sounds like the port is broken. Mine died last year. I got spare batteries and an external charger on Amazon.
