The Dreaded 80004005 on Sync

I have a Lumia 635 which I bought as an iPod replacement. It has a 128GB SD card.

On my Win 8 PC, I'm using the Windows Phone app for Desktop and syncing some iTunes playlists.

For a couple of my video playlists, I get "We couldn't copy <X> to the phone. Something happened that we didn't expect. But if you call support, you can tell them you saw this error code: 80004005".

Some searching shows that people say this is due sometimes to trailing spaces in filenames (not the case here) or DRM (not the case here). If I drag the videos to the phone in explorer, they work, so it's not the videos - it's something in the sync.

Phone reset/PC reboot didn't fix.

Any hope to fix this? Seems like this issue (based on my searches) has been around for a long time. I wish I could get more info like why it's giving the error other than the meaningless string of numbers.

Thanks!

Re: The Dreaded 80004005 on Sync

80004005 is, I think, often an "access denied" error. Could be for a number of reasons. You could try (re)formatting the card.
Then try transferring a playlist with only 1 song in it to both the internal and SD memory and see if you can identify where the issue is.
Or try using Windows Media Player to do the transfer.

It transfers some playlists OK, but not others.

I just wish it would say why it failed. Is there a log somewhere I can download/look at?

Windows Media Player, unfortunately, cannot read iTunes playlists and I'd rather not recreate the hundreds of playlists I have

Sad - no answer in Microsoft forums and no one here knows the answer either.

I guess Windows Phone is not quite ready for prime time.
