635 owners would you recommend this phone now?

It comes down to pricing and what's available in your area. If the 535 was available for a similar price I would definitely get that instead. You'd give up on LTE, but the way I see it, the 635 needs LTE since it'll be constantly refreshing webpages and reloading apps with the limited 512MB of ram.

As a Canadian, if I was buying the phone outright I would spend the bit extra and get the Win Blu HD instead ($130-150 for the locked 635 vs.$179 unlocked Win HD) . Similar spec to the Lumia 535 but with a 720p screen. I played around with it for a while at the MS Store and there didn't seem to be any additional animation lag from the slower GPU of the Snapdragon 200 (and from my understanding the CPU is the same between Snapdragon 200 and 400). I don't play games so the 1GB ram easily trumps the faster GPU that I don't even use on the 635, and the higher-res screen was definitely nicer and easier on the eyes.

My 635 was a replacement for my cracked screen HTC 8X (that I got used for a super good deal). The only thing the 635 does better is battery life. I've seen people say their 635s are just as fast as their Lumia 9xx phones but I don't see how it could be, the 635 is noticeably slower in normal usage compared to the 8X. I find apps crash fairly often when trying to open or resume with something in the background like listening to music and especially if Here Drive is running, I blame this on the lack of ram.

As a budget phone it's not bad, and for the rock bottom prices in the US it's a good deal. Elsewhere I'd say there are better alternatives for the price.

For me, the 635 works just as well as my 920 did. 920 obviously had better specs, but in normal everyday use feels like the same phone.

So far my Lumia 635 has not crashed once and it is noticeably faster and smoother than my 520, but I'm sure it doesn't compare to higher-end phones. I don't play games or videos on my phone, so that is irrelevant to me. Personally, I value the LTE more than I do a larger screen. LTE is the future and gradually all phone service will be over LTE. In some markets it won't matter for awhile, but in many places they are repurposing existing towers for LTE. I only bought the 635 after being able to compare its size to the 520 in a store and seeing that it is only slightly taller. I like a smaller phone, but one that performs well.

If all you have is $100 I would recommend this phone but only with the caveat that WP are more like souped up feature phones than any smartphone you know.

The 635 absolutely trounces any Android in its price range, there are no stutters, lags or system force closes (using the native browser is another thing entire) its keyboard is excellent with the added fun of emojiis. Cortana is pretty good as are the Nokia apps.

That is what I'm seeing compared to my 925. The 635 maybe even a little faster in some cases.

I know you can't see it but I have a smile from ear to ear. I've been on this site for a few years now and this may be the first time I've witnessed almost 100% agreement on any WP and shocked it's one of the lower to mid tier ones at that.

Thank you all for being honest to the OP and I'm sure he or she will be happy with the 635 or any WP chosen.

There is very little not to like about the Lumia 635. My chief complaints about this device are the experience with Internet Explorer when visiting 40% or more of the websites I frequent and the 512MB RAM cap. Does this mean it's horrible? No, but it can make the experience less enjoyable.

However, if you are a first-time smartphone user, someone who isn't a "power user" or a "power user" that doesn't open 80 apps at once - this is a great phone.

Aximtrio, I am grateful for all the honest feedback. Everyone appears to basically agree and it helps me make a better decision.

Do a bit of research and try to find an unlocked 625 instead. In my country the 635 and the 625 have the same price. + you get great battery life, front and rear camera, flash and 4g.

My only complaint is the lack of a selfie camera, and it's a minor complaint. Last night I was at a sports game and it was great to have the quarterly and halftime stats to check out on the excellent Bing Sports app. They were updated immediately and I was able to observe that what I thought I saw (that Miami's free throw shooting percentage was just horrible last night) was true.

When denim is released, I wished it would have had support for Hey Cortana. As much as I would love Miracast support, I know I'm asking a great deal from a budget device.

I love the 635 coming from a 520...its significantly faster, battery lasts significantly longer, Display is much nicer, only slightly taller but this makes it easier to press keys and it fells better in hand....really a most awesome WP. Its really a perfect phone for those who just want a great phone.

I'm actually going to stick with my 635 until a real flagship phone comes out. It really does everything that I need except for the wimpy camera. But neither the 830 nor the 735 seem worth the extra money at this point, especially if there will be a Win10 phone in 2015.

Just to add to this. I use an HTC 8X as my daily phone and picked up the 635 just to use as a media device and GPS. The 635 is a much better device than the 8X in almost every way measurable. ymmv

I actually thought about picking up an 8X as my daily because I'm missing the larger screen and better camera. But, seeing a daily 8X'er approving of the 635 to this degree makes me rethink that.

635 is really a good media player and GPS. The speaker is very loud. I have a 1520.3, I bought 635 for $39 and found it is really a good companion to 1520. I use 635 for phone and text. 1520.3 for web browsing and email if needed with 635's internet sharing. Very happy with this setting. I bought color back shells for 635 and just go bare phone. Perfect fit for me.

I had the HTC 8X but cracked the screen . However, I needed to have a phone so while it was being fixed, I picked up the 635 from MS when it was on sale for $100 just to have in the interim. I liked it so much I never went back to the HTC.

Having owned a Lumia 520, 521, 920 and an HTC 8X I gotta say I am impressed with this phone despite it not having double tap to wake which I tend to miss using. The device is very comfortable to hold its like holding a larger iPhone 5C but far more durable.

For all the problems in IE you can get Opera Mini Beta from Store. I tried all browsers and was going to dump this phone because I couldn't get on website. I made a bid on Ebay for HTC desire for half price. Hopefully someone out bids me since now I have websites opening now. All is going to take is one more bid within 24 hrs. which I don't think will be a problem since I bid half value of new phone. LOL
