720+Amber+GDR2 = Lot's of issues. .

Alright folks...
Updated Wife's 720 to GDR2. Now there are many things to worry about..
A. IT DOESN'T TURN OfF!!

B. The theme keeps reverting to White+CRIMSON

C. When I pull down to shut down, it rebbots with the hardware keys remaining active.

4. What's App shows a horizontal lines across the screen while getting in a chat for a split second. Looks like a glitch.

Now I wanted to know if a hard reset would do the trick. ..or am I in for a hell ride, courtesy Nokia India.

I own a Lumia 620 but I have most of the problems you noticed. After updating to Amber even I can't turn off my phone but sometimes if I switch off after turning the wifi off, I don't know how but it works and the mobile doesn't restart after turning off. Whatsapp also shows that line of which you are talking about. But thankfully the theme problem isn't with me. But i've just now noticed another problem after getting new earphones, it sometimes automatically starts to turn down the volume but doesn't lets me turn it up untill I disconnect the earphones. All in all I'm kinda disappointed with the update.

Sometime the reboot problem can solve after I try turning off for 2-5 times.
Or I push the power button until the hanging half background appear without swipe it down,I leave it for 5-10 sec than I swipe to turn off after that.

Can't I just go in Settings and say 'Reset my Phone'? Isn't that a proper way to do it?

Soft reset isn't the same as reset my phone, try a soft reset first, hold volume and start buttons at the same time and hold until it vibrates don't use the slide down to power off, just hold the buttons until it vibrates, it will then turn back on by itself. If that doesn't work you might have to do a factory reset "reset my phone"

My Lumia 920 also has the horizontal line in the middle of the screen (where the loading bubble are when opening a chat) in Whatsapp. also my friend has it with his HTC 8x. Both with GDR2

Post amber horrible experience with battery. Just poor battery life. Earlier phone used to be charged only once in 2-3 days. Now every single day has to be charged.

Also Nokia Pro Cam and Wifi drain the battery like anything. Earlier that wasn't the case. Its a ******** smart phone. I got to keep Wifi On..or else what's the use..

The middle button I guess it's actual name is the power button.

Today i discharged the battery to level 10% and then charged it back to 100% and kept it on charging for 1 hour more even though it showed 100% charged. Now after 9 hours (i removed charger at 3:54pm) my battery still shows 100%.

So i think my battery life is back to normal or should i say is better now.

Regarding the Whatsapp horizontal line and push notifications issues, just uninstall the app, restart your device and install the app again.

have kept my device for a hard reset through the 'about'>'Reset my phone' option. Didn't want to do the hardware keys way yet. The gears have started spinning and the clock has started ticking...let's see...

PS: Has anyone recently updated their Lumia 720 +GDR2? Wanted to know after how much time can I start panicking....

Gdr2 updates the operating system it can't be deleted via phone resetting. U must redownload all of nokia updates before u can have amber.

Gdr2 updates more than 1GB files to downloads i think.

Update: It's been more than 2 hours and the gears are just spinning and spinning. Did the trick of VOL UP + VOL DOWN + POWER + VOL DOWN + WAIT FOR 10 MINS also...no luck yet...have ran out of battery as well...is now on charging and the spinning gears are back..no sign of the phone booting up...

can any expert help me here...
