A new update 8.10.1293.890

520 owner here, reporting back.
Update went smoothly, took a bit long (around 12-13 minutes). Did not need charger, nor anything else, was on 79% before update, and ended up at 66% afterwards (might be a false reading as I haven't rebooted my phone for some time now). I did NOT get the new boot logo (thankfully. I think the original blue logo-only is a lot more stylish than the text one), can't say anything about quiet hours as my location is set to the US (I need Cortana).

Other observations: some actions seem smoother, faster (truly, animations seem to be sped up a bit). Opening the notification center, going back and forth the main screen and apps, opening the recent apps menu all appear to be... faster. Or at least smoother. I've also noticed that boot takes considerably longer than before, almost double the time (still under one minute, so not that bad). Battery drain finally normalized, at least on display. Will see actual battery life in the future.

No Nokia apps, settings are crashing at my end, and apart from these, I can't find anything new.

Pretty sure that was always like that, at least it has been on my 1520

I've gone into notifications & actions to customize my quick actions previously and never noticed quiet hours. Previous to this update, the only way to turn quiet hours on or off was to go through Cortana.

That's odd I could toggle mine off and on in the quick launch buttons......I've used it in the movie theater just last weekend. Maybe it was set up differently on the icon

Hate to sound cliche, but the update.... Seems faster.

I'm still getting the STUPENDOUSLY improved battery life from the first 8.1 update (initial upgrade decimated my 1020's battery life, but the previous update addressed that). So I'm very happy, I was worried that upgrading would risk harming my now amazing battery life (Average about 23+hours on a single charge now, even better than before 8.1).

However, I also noticed that app resumes and some animations (like returning to the Start Screen, yikes!) have been getting really sluggish lately, and the Start Screen and other apps could take longer than desirable to resume (even on my 2GB RAM 1020!!!). While the animations were great on 8.1, the battery life sucked. The first update really helped the battery life, but the animations and app resume became sluggish.

But now, everything is awesome! Battery life is incredible, WP8.1 is still the same great OS is has been since the Developer Preview launched, and now all my animations are buttery smooth again! Not too mention: boot time seems ever-so-slightly faster (Down to 30-32 second boot time from 34-36 second boot time).

So yeah, solid update! Glad Microsoft is actively beefing things up in prep for the official roll-out of 8.1, when carriers start releasing their official and designated firmware for it. Way to go, MS, keep it up!

Maybe they have Cortana disabled? I've heard that Quite Hours is now independent of Cortana, so maybe that's it? Because I myself have had Quite Hours as a quick toggle since day 1 of the 8.1 Developer Preview.

It seems to have fixed an issue I had. I used to have a problem when I reboot my phone with 8.1 preview any new message I got I would have to press the home button and then press the lock button (the message never sent and would freeze) I had to do that a couple of times but now after the update it works first try

Yes we have. I know this only because when I ask Cortana something, at least three times a day her response is to turn Wi-Fi On\Off. Has driven me nuts!

Bummer. I've noticed that sometimes too, where she'll actually parse my voice into words perfectly fine (For example, when I'm trying to search for something on Bing), but she'll then change it into a different command with words that sound /similar/.

I understand this is likely a fail safe on Microsoft's part, to help ensure that Cortana remains useful for it's main purpose: a voice assistant, so being able to do commands well is essential. Nonetheless, it's always frustrating to see she understood me perfectly, but then doubts herself and changes it. Gah!

Once again, the spinning gears scared the hell out of me. I've been stuck for a few minutes with only a little movement on the bar. After a while, it moved fast, I saw the white Nokia screen and now finally in the migration part. XD

nothing new here, i think the battery is more solid now, havent used it much since then but it stayed at over 80% even after playing with it a bit

Doesn't seem to resolve my touch issue. It still recognizes my scroll gesture as a tap on my 1520.
Agreed, same on my 1520.

I purchased my 1520 post 8.1 DP so thought this was a hardware issue, good to know that its software and or driver.

Scrolling getting registered as taps happen on the 1020 as well. I can't tell you how many times I've scrolled through instagram and it registers a tap on some random tag. Pretty frustrating!

I noticed that when calling someone, the Skype Video button in-call is now active. Previously, it was always grayed out. With the latest update, this finally works.

I am noticing on my ATT Lumia 1020 that the battery is uncalibrated. I have been running a stress test using WP Bench free for the last 20 minutes and my percentage has been stuck on 5%. I also noticed a battery change on a 920 I have. Battery was fully charged starting the update, and then when it finished, the battery was at 35%

Cortana can be pinned to start screen with this update. No more lags, "loading" when resuming etc.
