To me the big point of a case isn't about the phone being in my pocket. It's that if/when I drop my phone it does not get damaged.

In fact the only people I can think of that don't use cases are my step-daughters, whose iPhones are so fragile they are like Christmas ornaments. They rarely go more than a few weeks with a new iPhone without cracks in the screen or the back, but an iPhone is such a must-have at their high school that no girl would ever use a case for fear that a rumor would spread that their parents stuck them with android. I have an 820 with a rugged shell (Nokia standard back plate) and a leather slip case for whilst it is in my pocket. When I take it out to use it I remove it from the case in confidence. No need for a bulky, permanent case. Another good reason to get a phone with a changeable shell. The 820 would be perfect, if only it had more internal storage. Perhaps with 8.1 the SD card can be used for app space, then it will be perfect.

I say get the Icon when it comes out and slap a color case on it. I have a red 1520 and I use this in black:

It's not bulky and since my phone has the glossy finish the case makes it easier to hold. During the holidays I sported it naked and will do it agan the end of the week for Valentines Day.
