Good news everyone. It looks like Apple has "invented" OIS and may be "the first or even exclusive phone to have such a system."

Just left a comment on their website regarding this. Anybody who finds similar Apple praise on media, please post it here in the forums, so others can comment on them on their website. We will defeat this Apple Reality Distortion Field someday somehow... :winktongue:

Did any of you even read the article? Nope. Instead, you headed over to WP Central to post knee-jerk responses and revel in collective ignorance. Cut your marginalizing behavior and open your eyes to the world.

It will be done with OIS processor adjusting the optical path to the electronic image sensor. A second optical sample will also be captured and be offset from the first optical sample by less than a sub-pixel. The process is repeated and the optical samples can then be combined to create super-resolution images.

I'll paraphrase because all of you clearly aren't up to the task of it: Apple is patenting the use of OIS in conjunction with superpositioning to create higher res images.

It's an incredibly poorly written/edited article with the author apparently ignorant that OIS is a generic term for mechanical and digital means of reducing blur and has been in use in cameras and phones for many years. The article itself almost has an Onion-like quality to it.... It's that bad.
