AT&T Nokia Lumia 920 1308 firmware update Questions, Comments, and Bugs

Yes sir, an AT&T device support center, I have been told the device is under warranty for 1 full year so a replacement is valid. I have been directed to Nokia tech support also but I may have to wait until Monday to speak with someone from Nokia directly. They have hours on weekends? Nokia? I agree, the update has made my phone's 4G/LTE functionality non-existent. I just find it all frustrating, I'm really trying to remain positive but there have been some major issues with my Lumia 920 experience since 11/17/2012 and they continue
Yea I just realized they aren't open on weekends. What other issues have you been having? I haven't had an issue other than these issues. This phone has been a breeze to deal with since coming over from iPhone and Android phone problems.

I'm up the turnpike from you in Washington Heights (NYC). I usually get about 3 bars and LTE but nothing on the data side this entire day following the 1308 firmware update.
Are you able to get on WiFi? I can't get on WiFi.

The good thing is, from the AT&T side, my bill is credited for the data portion of my rate plan since I can not use my data at present.
**** I might have to go get them to do that when I go in tomorrow.

Seriously though this is absurd. I mean if I could at least use Wifi to get MMS and send texts properly, I wouldn't really have that big of a problem. But without even 3G being reliable, this phone is near useless.

Well, battery life was horrendous on the prior two lumias I had (both were 920s). I also have unexplainable issues with my phone locking up and me having to do hard resets and my current device still locks up at random times + it has been rebooting independent of me forcing it to do so, this was happening prior to the 1308 update too. I had the iPhone 4, got tired of what apple was pushing out from the 4s to the 5 and I never got around to checking out android, though I looked at the GN 2 today but at full price I left it at the store, I'm not eligible for an upgrade for another 14 mts. Not trying to give you a sense of dread because some owners of the Lumia 920 have been fortunate to have none of the issues I have been dealing with since upgrading to this device last Nov. I have had 3 different 920s so far.

agreed! completely useless!

Am I the only individual that is experiencing data connection issues with the 1308 firmware update? It has been no go for data connection all day. I'm in NYC
Same issue. Nothing helped so far - reboots/resets are useless. Just waiting for what Nokia has to say about that (new firmware fix maybe?), using previous smartphone instead for now...

good deal. I am stuck for the time being, my prior device was a iPhone 4. Unfortunately that phone began experiencing rapid battery drains shortly after I upgraded to the Lumia 920.

I can't received pictures In texts messages anymore since the update. My wife is on att with an iPhone and I can send her pictures fine but my cuz and wife both tried multiple times and it just said media content in messages getting media content 32kb

It seems to me that for my connection issues the phone no longer can effectively switch from LTE to 4G to 3G and back. It just seems to drop connections completely and not just jump to the other. I read on here that someone said the update took away the ability to restrict which data connection they used (#2332# or something). I wonder if the removal of that messed up this up. This all is just a guess. It does not explain though how I could be at my desk and just lose connection for no reason. To get it back, I have to place a call and then my bars come back up.

I can connect to my router for data access. Whatever is affecting my cellular connectivity is not hindering my ability to connect to my router. I am not out and about just now so I may have a problem connecting to wifi outside my apt.

nokiacare us replied to me with this to try. turn on airplane mode, turn off phone. take out sim card, put it back in, then reboot. then turn off airplane mode. I tried it, turned off wifi and my data/lte was still not connecting or so slow that nothing loaded.

Yep, that has been posted and it does not seem to fix it. Thanks for getting information.

Off topic, but anyone know when Rogers will distribute this update?

They should at least compensate our expensive plans with great updates, and our money's worth.

The "machine gun sound " when answering calls, it is the ringtone playing thru your ear piece stuttering (skipping) of you have your phone on vibrate only it does not produce the sound.

I am able to reproduce this over and over

Is there any way to revert or roll back firmware upgrades once applied?

No easy way. Someone pointed me to the sticky on my main page of the 920 forum on flashing firmware. It has a lot of steps but seems doable. If I can't get anywhere with Nokia and ATT next week I think I will try it.

So at home I get great reception, but at work I continue to get horrible reception, It sounds like you might be on to something, prior to this update the lumia worked fine switching between LTE and 4G, after update while it indicates LTE the reception is horribl, then non existant while in my work building, without the ability to try other bands such as 4G, 3G or even EDGE, I can't tell if its a tower issue or not. on my previous iPhone,i was able to switch manually. NokiaCareUS just told me they will get back to me, this was on thursday. hope they find an answer soon. phone is useless at work.

yeah, i saw that post too - was hesitant to do it because i wasn't sure whether it would roll back any low level changes as well. i'm going out of town on tuesday, so i need to get my device figured out before then. at&t said it'd be 3-4 days before i could get a replacement, and nokia just says "we'll let you know if we figure out what's going on"

OTA for me.

Do you know how to manually flash a phone? Would love to go back to the original firmware so I could at least use my phone.

I think it is a faulty update that may be the issue. Try using Nokia updater for retail. It will erase the phone and reflash it. This solved all my issues.
Sent from my Nokia Lumia 920 using Board Express
