AT&T Nokia Lumia 920 1308 firmware update Questions, Comments, and Bugs

This is not only an ATT problem, I'm with Rogers and am also experiencing issues on the 1308 firmware. I applied this because the phone was bricked after doing a factory reset. LTE drops on me and looses data connectivity, I've had a few missed calls as well.

Yes. I am getting the SIM error about once an hour (at least that seems to be the rate) and have to do a soft reset to fix. It's odd, but it almost seems that when I put the phone on the wireless charger that trips the error after about 1-2 minutes. Otherwise I haven't been able to replicate the error through any actions of my own.

Today I had no data connection whatsoever, even with 4 out of 5 bars of LTE showing. I may just go back to a basic phone if this isn't resolved soon. Why have a data plan if you can't use it?

Well, then go back to other phone until Nokia will fix it... That's what I did. The way all of the mobile platforms have occasional issues with OS/firmware (some iPhone 4S/5 users still have battery life issues even after latest iOS 6.1+ updates) updates it is a very good idea to have a "spare" working smartphone (or "dumb phone") always available at home (with all your contacts always synced to this spare). I've learned this fact some time ago, other people should realize it too. If you don't have it - you can get a contract-free unlocked spares at Amazon - multiple brands are available (just make sure it is being sold by Amazon themselves)... Or just get the cheapest Nexus 4 directly from Google ;-)

This may very well be true, and is good advice. However it's bad business, and simply sloppy at best. An excuse is an excuse, nothing more.

I don't have any issue with connectivity. Here are a few suggestions. Try a soft reset (power + volume down) or factory reset, get your carrier to do a re-provision, or flash another rom?

I broke down and flashed back to 1249 Friday night. I have had zero issues staying connected ever since. I'm sitting at work now with only 1 bar of LTE. My speedtest results aren't stellar but at least the connection is consistent.

Flashing back loses your data, correct? It's unbearable using this phone the way it is, but damn I'd hate to lose everything on my phone.

Just spoke with Nokia Care US and they are not close to releasing a fix. They told me that if you have an affected handset, to ask AT&T to configure your plan for 3G access only, until a fix is in place.

Well if this is true, I'm leaving Nokia. Every Nokia phone I've had has had so many problems. I'm the last person I know that hasn't given up on Nokia. That $99 iPhone from T-Mobile is looking better and better.

Screw it, next time I have a few I am going back to previous version and just waiting. ONE botched update is no reason to call a company sucky and leave their devices. If that were true, then Apple would have lost a vast majority of people.

I'll wait for the next one.

Yeah, it would be great if this was the only one. But they had the same problem with the 900. I had to replace it 3 times and still it has problems. My daughter just got rid of her 900 for not being able to charge and it also had the same connection problem as my 920, straight out of the box. So yeah, Nokia sucks, because of more than one reason.

Also if you read my previous post, EVERY Nokia I've owned has had some kind of problem, rendering them unusable. If it were only one bad update I could deal with that.

One botched update?? The 920 is for the most part a total failure IMHO. Sure Nokia has sold a bunch of these phones, but with all the issues no one will buy a Nokia product again. I know I won't.

And I am sure they never had issues with their PC's before? Even Apple screws up sometimes. What is different is that Nokia noticed quickly and resolved quickly.

Yeah, but, PC issues from software updates rarely render the PC unusable.
