A lot of people are guessing that it was a pricing error but no one's really sure. AT&T never advertised it. I don't think most people would have known if WPCentral didn't post a story about it.

Definitely a pricing error. I got my off-contract Lumia 925 for $5 including taxes.

There was a '$75-off accessories' coupon that you could get by chatting with the sales reps. In addition to the pricing error, AT&T also messed something up with the coupon and it could be used on phones as well.

Not a bad deal! lol

Hell I was happy to get it for the 79.99 price. My only mistake was not getting two. I'll probably be dead and in my grave before it happens again. But then I gave it to my wife to replace her 520. Its a great phone; but I prefer my 820 because of the SD card slot, removeable battery, and wireless charging back cover. Still for 79.99$ it would be nice to have.
