Back In the Game!

I "retired" my Samsung Focus about 16 months ago. Two Android phones later, I'm back in! Just scored a new Lumia 920 :excited:

I'll still keep my GS3 for now. I thought about waiting for Catwalk or Lazer or whatever the next flagship will be, but WTF :grin: Pulling the trigger now is more fun! :winktongue:

Well, I'm back in the game again. :smile: Sold my 920 almost a year ago. I impulsively got a 1020. Yeah, older specs, but the camera is impressive.

I decided the 830 isn't what I want, and didn't feel like waiting for the M8 (I'm on AT&T), although we'll see when it comes out. The off-contract price for the 1020 is reasonable. Always happy to come back to WP!

Although the G3 is newer, I'm thoroughly enjoying the 1020 and it's awesome camera.

I'm going to Hawaii in a couple weeks. I'm thinking the 1020 might come in handy over there.

Having the latest and allegedly greatest Android device, what are your thoughts? I use them on a daily basis due to my profession, but I haven't yet been exposed to the 1020. I realize it is older, but I use an HTC 8X as my daily driver and the inflated specs of Android devices have yet to lure me away from the same experience I have with my Windows phone, Xbox and Windows 8.1 desktop. Even on an aging computer (built myself in 2006) Android has nothing on that ecosystem.

So...1020 vs S5, what's the verdict?

I'm considering a 1020 off contract as I'm on Verizon, but I don't like that it may or may not get all the updates. I'll probably still buy one of the price is right though.

There's no doubt the S5 is the most acomplished, overall, of the two.

There's a lot to like: the bigger screen, the longer battery life, the IR blaster, the complete set of apps and system capabilities.

However, the better camera, the nice formfactor, glance screen, tap to wake, live tiles, I don't know... The entire experience seems nicer with the 1020. Right now, the only real reason I'm not completely satisfied is the short battery life.
I'm inclined to sell the S5 and keep the 1020.

I hope the 1020 successor will come with a larger battery, and then I'm set.

The 640 is my current daily phone. I got it for a bit more than $30 though and put a Cyan back on it. Awesome little device.
