Back to the droid!

I'm rocking the trophy again! Got the new one in the mail and finally got it set up like I want. Thankfully I can put the droid back in retirement.

My other trophy definitely had problems. With the same battery I'm on 14 hours with this one. Much better than 6 or 7!

To be honest, I get bad reception in my home on my Omnia 7 too. My old HTC Touch would hold full bars, but I often drop out altogether on the Omnia.

I think that the industry is currently gunning for form over function. This is why I'd probably be happier with a Nokia - I don't think they are going to sacrifice basic functionality just to make something look nicer.

With a Nokia you won't have such problems.

Oops, Verizon is not getting any WP device anytime soon. so...

Try a BB for the basics.

I'm hoping when I'm eligible for an upgrade Verizon has a Nokia wp7. It's very frustrating to deal with poor reception. This new trophy is better than the old one I had but it's still not that great but it will make calls.

FYI you dont have to shut the phone off.. especially if like me you play music from it :) Just put it in airplane mode :) then switch it back when you leave .. :)

Also.. if you havent already you might switch the phone to CDMA only. When you lose signal it will try both GSM and CDMA .. even MORE battery drain ;)

The trophy is just blah IMO. I'm headed back to AT&T and a Sammy.. everytime I pick up my focus .. I have trouble going back to the trophy.. the screen is that much better...

Thanks for the tip about Airplane Mode. Never thought of using that but it's better than shutting off the phone.

What is so underwhelming about the Trophy? Other than signal strength and battery I absolutely love mine.

Just got off the phone with Verizon and they are sending me another phone. I have always had very good luck with Verizon customer service and this time was good to.

Wow... I always HATE dealing with VZW customer service, I always feel like I am about to pop a blood vessel in my brain. I am glad that you had a good experience with them.

Just a thought.. and I am thinking about this too....
On another thread, someone was having the same problem with weak signal, so they opened a ticket with VZW and kept calling back in on it, soon they gave him the option to buy a $250 3G extender for $50.

I think they are better on the phone than in the store, but overall I've been pleased both ways. When I first switched from AT&T the girl we dealt with in the Verizon store was outstanding. They even gave the kids dummy phones and kept them occupied so my wife and I could look at phones without being distracted.

I'm probably going to get the home connect phone they have. My wife has the iphone 4 and it doesn't do very well at home either. She would like a land line again but I'm not really interested.

HTC is not good about reception. Their phones have always gotten weaker signals from me and that's on winmo android or wp7. Samsung and Moto are way better. The reception and data speeds on the hd7 have been a constant source of grief ever since I got that phone. I think it has something to do with their antenna designs. Their phones tend to attenuate more than some other OEMs as well.

Glad you got a working unit. I was gonna say that if you are with the same carrier, it is most likely the device (isolated) and definitely not the platform.

Motorola & Nokia always gave me some of the best reception. Samsung isn't giving me the greatest after using the Nexus S 4G and Galaxy S II.
