Battery life with WP 8.1

Re: Battery much worse after yesterday update

I've been using Pandora most of the day streaming to my Jambox, email, IE, etc. and I'm at 53% at 3:44 PDT, started the morning at 4:45 AM PDT....pretty decent battery life

since the update and a full charge over night. I am at 90% after 7 hours off the charger. Before yesterday's update, I'd be down to around 40-55% by now or less. Not sure if it's a fluke, but I haven't changed what I've been using my phone for from yesterday.

Is anyone having this issue? batter Saver doesn't work, not even when I pin it OR when I go thru it on Menu or Settings... nothig works, it's like it doesn't take me anywhere, I press and it doesn't respond!!!! I already installed update 1, and still the same stuff! I hate battery life, Lumia 625

There is a glitch in the preview where random apps get disabled, as it is a system app you most likely will need a hard reset to get it back. I found about this from Skyrocker007 when Simple Calendar just randomly got disabled from me.

My battery life has improved dramatically after the update, however Skype (now uninstalled) was the biggest battery hog for me after the update. Pushed my battery drain upto 42% (apparently - according to the app - "Battery") and caused my phone to heat up faster than an electric radiator lol nothing else was started, once I uninstalled and phone left on the side for a good 10 minutes or so, it cooled down and battery drain decreased drastically. This was yesterday and battery drain now roughly about 4 - 7 % give or take, I can live with that :D. Going to give it a few more days of normal usage and see how it goes.

Battery issue has been resolved (nokia 920) with the latest update for developers. Before the upgrade the battery was gone when I was using waze or here maps, even if the smartphone was pluged.

My 1020 seems to have only a marginal increase of battery life after this latest update. Now the 100% level holds for more than 5 minutes. LOL.

It's still horrible, though. I manage to get 14 hours at maximum with economy mode on all day long and whatsapp as the ONLY allowed backgroud task. I've also got the display at low brightness, 3G data and wi-fi on.

The IE seems to suck all the juice from the battery in an incredible pace.

Confirming battery issue.

Went out at 7.30 pm with 100% and came back home at 10pm with 62% of battery (85% before with same usage pattern, ie reading news on Flux and Weave for 2 or 3 hours). It's literally eating the battery without reason.

this is what i got after the new 8.1 update yesterday

glance always on, airplane mode with wifi on, auto brighness and light usage

Seems to have gotten better after the Update 1. It's more or less on par with what it was on WP8 now if not better.

I'm on day 2 of 8.1 with a Nokia Lumia 520. Battery life is identical to 8.0, no performance issues to-date.

The recent update has made everything better, its now 21:30, I stopped charging my phone at 10:00 and after using it consistently all day, including Cortana use, its at 50%. Lumia 520 btw

This is mine with 8.1 update ok not too great. What are the settings to get at least 8 hours . This is on 1020 ..

Question. What is a "good" battery percentage drop? 4-5% an hour? I'm a new 1520 8.1 owner with latest update do I have no other point of reference.

It depends on what your doing with the phone.

On my 1520 if I'm on the web using desktop versions of the sites I use about 8% per hour but if I'm using mobile versions it is about 3% per hour.

If the phone is just idling then it is 0.2-0.3% per hour and that is with everything on except WiFi sense. I have insider and my weekly battery usage chart shows that the Tuesday is my heaviest day of the week on battery with an average of 1.7% per hour and my lowest is Sunday at 1.1% per hour. Those readings were calculated from the Monday night that we got 8.1 and the first couple of days the battery was going mad because 1 the phone was sorting itself out after installing 8.1 and 2 I was using the phone all the time for the first 4-5 days changing background photos and downloading the photos to use.

I don't have anything restricted in the background except WiFi sense and the only two apps that use my location are Cortana and maps.

My 920 is better too after the update. I noticed the difference especially in standby. So it's a good thing.

Guys, use the Diagnostics app and send battery feedback to Microsoft if you want to help them improve battery life.

It takes a couple of seconds and will make a difference in the future!
