Heres my battery (1020), its been going pretty good on usage...during this usage i played PvZ for an hour, about 2 hours of browsing, 20-25 texts, 3 phone calls, Nokia MixRadio 1 hr and a bunch of emails.

Wifi (always) ON, All Data LTE/4G/3G/2G, Medium Brightness, 5 Emails sync hourly, a bunch of apps running in background (Weatherflow, WPC, battery saver, Words with Friends, many more), double tap ON

OFF: Bluetooth, Glance, No Cortana (in Canada, not default), Find Phone, Backups, Location, NFC, internet sharing, Battery Saver (always OFF)

Also note, no battery monitoring apps installed...i prefer this route as i spend a lot less time analyzing every detail

My battery usage seems like drained too fast... Not even 12hours lasting now after latest update.

Lumia 1520

Definitely. Was browsing the forums on my 1520 this morning next to a friend with a G2 and he was playing a game. I kept an eye on his battery meter and mine seemed to be draining 3 times faster.

Also I had a 20 percent battery drain overnight recently when I forgot to plug my phone in.

Seriously, it has improved a lot after the update. Have a glance below:

Windows Phone 8: Lumia 520 was GOOD.
Windows Phone 8.1 : Lumia 520 was WORST (100%, Cellular Data ON(2G) in night at 11 PM, L520 was switched OFF at 8 AM without browsing).
Windows Phone 8.1 (After Update) : Lumia 520 is BETTER (80%, Cellular Data ON(3G) in night at 11 PM, L520 still ON at 8 AM with 65-70% without browsing).

L520 : India

Yeah..I am also facing the same issue on lumia 720.
Battery keeps dipping down, even when background running of all the apps is deactivated.
infact before this latest update battery was satisfactory.
even did a hard reset.

I'm happy with all my phones but the update to 8.1 made no difference to my phones battery.

The biggest increase was on my 1020 which is around 25% better than before 8.1 and my 925's are about 15% better. My 520 doesn't have a sim in it so I can't really judge that.

My 1520 is between 10 and 15% better especially during use, I have 18 apps allowed to run in the background, 10 live tiles with location and Bluetooth always on. Using the phone and keeping a note of the times that I had the phones screen on I got between 10 and 13 hours depending on what I was doing but mostly it was browsing the web. I got 13 hours when I just used mobile versions of the websites I go on.

Using the preview (with last update) on a 925.2 and battery life for me has been exactly the same as in wp8. Moderate use gets me more than a day, heavy use gives me almost a day and I end up charging it at 9pm.

Settings are
Glance/tap to wake off
Wifi set to turn on on favorite locations
Bluetooth used only when driving, 20 minute drive to work and back. Turned off rest of time.
Cortana on and used for reminders.
Location on
NFC off
Brightness on Auto
Touch sensivity (don't know if this changes anything) set to high.

It's OK, but I used to get 30% more out of my Ativ S.

Recent update has fixed pretty much all the battery issues for me. Still varies, but I'm hovering at about 90-110% of my WP8 battery capacity. AKA: Some days it's a tiny bit worse than WP8, some days it's a tiny bit better, overall: I'm happy with battery where it stands right now. Thanks for listening, Microsoft!

I was disappointed with my new 1520 and 8.1 until the last update. I would barely make it through 8 hours with everything turned off, now I can't seem to kill it with everything turned on.

i'll just say battery life on my 1020 was never good..
I guess I'm a heavy user though.
browsing the net / using social apps (whatsapp/line/facebook messenger/twitter) on 4G for about an hour brings me down about 20%.
is this normal?! my 920 was also the same though so I guess it's just how it is...
i don't understand how people on iphone 24/7 like whatsapp and stuff still last them a day.
i must charge my phone at least once in the day if i want it still on by the time i go to bed at midnight.

i did a hard reset a few days ago, so hoping the battery will become stable in the next couple of days..

My battery life was awful with 8.1 and my 521. So far, it appears to be a Wi-Fi issue. The battery drains fast with Wi-Fi on...when off it is way better.
