Battery life with WP 8.1

My battery life was awful with 8.1 and my 521. So far, it appears to be a Wi-Fi issue. The battery drains fast with Wi-Fi on...when off it is way better.

Make sure Wifi Sense is disabled

Same here, seems related to the wifi, i tried with wifi sense and all the other things else than the wifi itself but kept draining even when not using so i turn it off when im not downloading anything. Had trouble getting the battery drained at nights and not waking up lol my gf got 520 and same problem blamed me for updating her phone to 8.1 =P

Registered out of frustration. My Nokia 920 just ran out of battery while charging with the stock charger!

If I leave the phone on, nt using it, it will go from 100% to less than 10 in under five hours. Sure i can turn off 4G, 3G, Wifi, etc.. but if I wanted a pretty brick to tell me the time, i can buy a watch.

My useage pattern usually gives me one day of heavy phone use, before joining the 8,1 preview program. I havent changed anything since before updating, and frankly I will be sadened if I have to turn off cellular data and wifi just to make my phone survive the day. Really hoping the Nokia Cyan(?) firmware/addonware solves this!

This. My 1020 battery has been running very nicely, I did a clean install and its been on par or evenly slightly better than 8. Right now I'm at 25 hrs since last charge with 35% remaining,medium usage.

People if you're having a lot of problems clean install!

already did a clean install on 1020 and I see no improvements.
my avg battery life is 5.5 hours!! lol. I am a heavy user tho.

I also suffered a lot of battery drain with my Lumia 1020, so much that I went back to WP8.0 using Nokia Software Recovery Tool and got back around 22 hrs with daily use until I gotta charge again BUT then I compared my 1020 to my gf's HTC 8X which is running 8.1 DP and I noticed she getting similar results that I'm getting on 8.0 , so I made some comparison of settings, made changes and now my 1020 is rocking it!, I'll reply later with settings

The battery in my 1020 is 20-25% better after 8.1 and lasts between 2 and 3 days.

I'm finding over time my 1020 has improved a lot with 8.1+update. But its WP and my 920 was so random,its been pretty consistent so far, I'm pretty impressed.

My icon's battery life was terrible and much worse until I hard reset the phone. Its really great now.

In settings somewhere there is an option' reset my pc'. This will do it.

both pics are from 8.1 only because in wp8 battery saver icon was heart shape but in wp8.1 we got this shield one and ur both pics shows shield only

Settings >> About >> Reset Phone

Also I hard reset my 928 yesterday doing good for now

Go into settings and 'about phone' and then reset.

When you reset the phone do not chose to restore, set it up as a new phone and just re install the your apps.
