Battery life with WP 8.1

If you are willing to after above doesnt work, RESET with a clean slate (no restore) and do not install any battery monitoring from the get go.

i did start with a clean state after i reset it. i'll see if it gets better in the next week or so. if it's still the same then i'll do what you suggest and reset it again! :)

Not sure why my battery life went terrible today barely used it and didn't shi much of anything differently from yesterday. Only had one 10 minute call a couple texts and notifications and this is off of a full charge

Under lock screen(without any use) my L520 battery lost 4% in one hour.......please do something to overcome this
Don't allow apps to run in the background using battery saver. And update to the latest version of 8.1 if you haven't already. My battery life is exactly the same as what I had in 8.0

There is no use to do so.because I have set all my apps are not allow in background.....

i didn't even have battery issues with the original windows phone 8.1 update when i updated with the fix for the battery issues i'm geting -7%/hr idle if i'm lucky i get -5%

Is mobile data on? Using mobile data and WiFi at the same time can really drain your battery. Turn it off if you haven't done so already.

I forgot all about turning the data off I use to do that and get great battery life.

I took my phone off the charger last night with WiFi on and data off at midnight and went to sleep now it's 7:30 am and here's my battery life now with no WiFi and maybe 45 mins of data on. I'm at work and any extended period of time where I'm not using my phone in turning the data off to see how the battery lasts. But really who wants to use their phone that way lol and ok also in battery saver mode

After switching the gmail email checking to 15 or 30 minutes interval, I have seen drastic improvements.

Guys, how many hard resets do you recommend ? I did it once on my l520, and my battery still is draining.

To be honest, my battery is poor but it's generally when I use IE otherwise nothing really drains it that badly.

Haven't noticed a change since WP8 tbh. My 1020 isn't great with battery life anyways. I'll prob do my first reset when official Cyan+8.1 hits though

I don't think that's abnormal. My old Blackberry Bold, which was amazing with battery life for any phone, like 2.5% per hour, average, while in standby or minimal use.

People forget how connected we are now. Even though your not using your phone, Apps are probably polling for data. Now if you turn off Data and still get 4% in standby, that's an issue...

I have a 928 with 8.1 and I feel like one of the lucky ones! I will admit, I did a hard reset and when I went to restore my phone, I read that I could sign in with my gmail account rather than the hotmail account, I seemingly had to set up when I bought the phone initially. The downfall is that I lost my paid apps, all $15-$20 worth. No big deal really. With 8.1 my battery lasts me the day. I'm not a gamer, or what some would call a heavy user. FB is probably my most used app, along with Pandora (which seems to be skipping some lately), weather, traffic, wpc, I noticed last night that my people hub is working again! I get quite a few emails from the boss and need to keep it on check every 15 minutes. All apps I can turn off are. I never installed any other battery saving app, just using the stock one. My signal seems to be a bit better at home, as I live in an area in Houston with few towers and sadly where I work my signal is worse. When I'm in an area with a good signal my phone rocks! Otherwise, honestly I'm very happy with the phone's overall performance. I came from Android last May 31st, after having 3 Thunderbolts and 3 Rezounds in a year. I bought my phone outright and kept my unlimited data on Verizon. Yep, feeling pretty good! And, with the updates we're getting, I'm just going to keep my 928 at least until the Big V comes out with something spectacular or this one goes belly up.

Well, my Lumia 1020 was taken out from charger at 10pm last night. At 8am it had lost 1% (one %) of battery, showing 99% (wifi and data off, bluetooth on).

Now, at 5pm, it has 86% battery life remaining (19 hours after charge), with 1 day estimated life remaing. During those 19 hours, wifi was on for 2 hours and updated a few apps.

I think WP8.1 battery life is awesome...

A couple of questions from me....Just to confirm.

A hard reset with backup sync will restore everything? Apps, app data, game data, texts, photos and videos as well as my start screen layout?
Is there anything that won't be restored?

Thank you for your patience. I just took the plunge with the 8.1 upgrade two days ago and I'm trying to correct battery life issues. I want to try a hard reset/restore from backup before contemplating a clean restore. I realize that this is a preview/beta, but my gf is thinking about upgrading as well and she won't be as tolerant of battery issues because of her long commute.

Don't restore after the hard reset, set the phone up as new.
