A reset without restore is a final resort action, which is why I was thinking of trying the reset/restore....I may get lucky.I'm trying to avoid having to setup the phone again as well as losing my texts, photos and videos. The battery issues are not that bothersome especially since this is a preview, non optimized version of the OS. Thanks for your time. I realize how annoying these questions can be.

My battery life is not so great.
I'm a heavy user, I recognise: 3G always on, WiFi most of times on, 1 email account with push on, some apps active in background (bing weather and so on), battery saver always on. My monthly mobile data consumption (not WiFi) is about 750-1000 MB.
I use IE11 most of times, it's the most used app by me. Battery Saver is on under 20%. Most of the functions are on except BT and GPS. I activate them only on demand.

Battery Saver shows me a 8-10 h between each battery charge. Abut the same with that from WP8.

I own a 8X, WP8.1 preview (last update).

L.E. I had a Moto Razr Maxx, I know how is to have a monster battery.

Battery life on my 810 is really not good today. I started my very early morning at 100%, but minutes after turning on my data (around 6:30), it started draining considerably. I think Words with Friends is mostly to blame because it was just sitting there saying it was loading and blah, blah, blah to the point where I just gave up on playing it on this thing. Last I checked, battery was already at 77% in one hour, but I'm sure it's down from that as I've been typing this. Boo! 👎

It seems the battery drains a considerable amount when actively using the phone. Not a couple of percent, but with some apps 15%/hour. In standby it doesn't drain much at all. I'm not sure what the cause is as yet..

Don't hold out hope on Lumia cyan, because I'm having these issues with the 630..

What phone and what are you doing on it?

The 630... For example, phone off charge 1 1/2 hour ago and already on 83%. I've been looking at a new app I downloaded; brick manager. And some Facebook and Twitter. I suppose I've used it for most of this time, but to lose this much seems odd..

That seems okay for an hour and a half of use. Your 630 is obviously new so how many charge cycles have you done on the phone since you got it?

It wasn't gaming use though. I've been out this morning and am now at 65% after it being on battery for 9 hours. So not too bad actually, but that's with very little use between this morning and now.

I got it last Wednesday and had to do a hard reset on Friday. So 2 overnight charges. It seems to be improving though. Last week it was having some issues where messaging and outlook were constantly running in the background.

So, i suppose its not too bad. Could be better though. In the last 15 minutes I've lost 10%...

Am I the only one who did not notice this? I've got a 520 too, and in my experience, battery life is on par, or even better, than before. I usually have WiFi and 3G data connected, BT off, been playing around a lot with Cortana, and my phone was down to 35% last night, after update (truth is, I kept trying the Store every 10-15 minutes to get some of my apps back...). Now, it's been mostly idle (some FB chat and installing apps), and it's down to 94%

For me, it's Twitter on 3G, heats up the phone and drains the battery.

I have 920 and I also think that the problem is when I'm actively using the phone. My standby battery life is on par with 8.0, but it's when I'm using the phone, such as using apps and games. My phone gets EXTREMELY hot and battery drains at unbelievable rate, something like 100% to 60% in less than an hour for playing games (been playing Frozen Free Fall lately). Even when I"m using light apps, such as wpcentral or engaget, it drains unbelievably fast and gets hot.

well its a bit weird on my 928 it always has been, the only thing that drains the battery faster than usual is having a chat on skype or fb's messenger(i blame the white backgrounds) or browsing(again, the white background) everything else seems to have little effect on my battery % using it as wifi hotspot doesnt even get it warm, games get it warm but battery is barely 1-5% down after half an hour on asphalt 8 or temple run 2, streaming on netflix, 3g or wifi doesnt even get it hot

most apps drain battery. for me, whatsapp, line, twitter, facebook messenger, facebook all drains battery if i use it for awhile.. it heats up my phone. i can get from 100% to 60% in just 45 mins (on 4G, Wi-Fi is a lil bit better). this has always been the case for me even before wp8 both on my 920 and 1020. i don't remember my battery usage on the Focus S or HTC Surround, but it wasn't great either. lol

I am on the same page as the peeps who say phone usage drains the battery, but idle state is pretty consistent-steady (god send, thankfully it works properly now). This is much like the iPhone now in that when the phone is being used, depending on what for, can either drain the battery quickly or average, while in standby/idle drains only 1-2%/hour. I am very happy with this, especially how well it works on the existing WP8 devices. I am really hoping the optimization for the upcoming 8.1 devices works even better. Rogers 1020.

What should the ideal idle power consumption? I feel that even with the radios turned off and battery save my 920 is taking too much power.
