Please can someone explain why photos that are taken on my Lumia 1020 are blurry unless I take them from afar?

Here's an example.

I have tried with focus on manual and auto same for everything else, various settings = blurry pics still.

You are probably to close to the subject. Before I used to have a Lumia 920 and I was able to get real close to the subject to take a macro shot. Now with the 1020, I can't get as close as the 920.

What I normally do is set it to manual focus, then change the wheel just to not be in auto mode and remove from my subject until I see it clear on the phone.

Also on another note, for me with my 1020, I got a hard time scanning the bar code within some apps because it can't focus right

At which distance are you trying to do the shot? I believe there is a minimum for working focus ...

928 here, pics are still as sharp and clear as they were before the update. Maybe something with the 1020?

1020 have an minimal focal lenght of 15cm. you cant take too mutch close shots like 928 or 920.

As stated, the 1020 cannot focus any closer than 15cm. Feel's like a lot, but with the PureView zoom it really isn't a problem.

In short, you are too close.
