Bug/defect checklist for new and future Lumia 920 owners

Something wierd i noticed last night. I wanted to charge my phone whilst it being off. so i plug the charger in, and the phone powered up. I powered it back off, and a min later it powered back on by itselfs, and continued to charge.

Is this by design or am i missing something?

It's always been the case since WP7. It's by design

Lumia #1 matte black had dust in the ff camera and proximity sensor, also froze up every half hour or so regardless of whether it was idle or messaging or browsing or gaming, ect.

Returned it for a white which is perfect except for a nice large piece of dust under the glass in the middle of the screen.

Time to try again. Trying to decide now on sticking with white or going back to black.

I have a serious issue I have not yet seen yet. As of a few hours ago, it seems my 920 activates the proximity sensor whenever I make or accept a call, regardless whether I have the phone close to my head or not.

I cannot actively end a phone call because my screen is locked and black.

I've managed to hit the "end call" button in a 1/4 or 1/2 split second when it appears if I press the power/screen lock button twice in a row, but it's very touch and go.

Has anyone else had anything like this?? I'm really really annoyed.

I also just started having this issue after having owned the phone for about 12 days. Also noticed that there was dust under the screen where the FF camera is. Used air gun to blow out dust which helped a little, but the proximity sensor is very sensitive now, activating when I wave my finger over the sensor about 6 inches from the surface.

Also noticed that sound is a little crackly from the earpeice, not sure if its cause from their end or mine.

Gonna take the 920 back and get it repalced, hopefully won't happen again.

The LED flash on my red Lumia 920 has stopped working as of last night. Tried numerous things to trouble shoot. Used flash light apps to try and activate, no luck. Tried video recording with flash on, no luck. Took the flash off auto, took a pic, no luck. I'll be taking it back Friday. Anyone else having this problem? Apparently I'm not the only one.

Until the other day, I was able to play videos on my Nokia Lumia 920 that I copied from my PC. Now, they do not play and I get an error message " Sorry, we can't play this file for you on your phone" and a code "80070003". Does anyone know what this means or what I need to do to fix it? Thanks!!

My phone ran out of battery during my sleep although it was full charged. Happens about 3-4 times now and the only Apps that I allowed background task were USA today, weather and Bloomberg. Also, this morning I noticed 2 big blue spots and one small blue dot on the back of my white phone. Not sure how that happened but I have tried to get rid of them but no luck. This is my 2nd white phone after returning the 1st one with the same batter problem and the power button was not aligned correctly.

Spoke too soon. There is dust getting in under the front facing camera.

Also, the battery life has been inconsistent lately. I had the battery drain about 4-5% an hour on standby at times, whereas sometimes it draws 1% or less (under similar conditions). I know it may be the OS battery gauge, but still... The battery drain while in use has also varied somewhat.

And, of course, the major reason I got the phone - the super-duper PureView - turns out not to be so pure. I had all my photos downloaded on my PC and almost none of the is as sharp as those taken with my wife's SGS3.

Otherwise, I love the phone. Especially how solid it feels in the hand.

I am having issues trying to figure out what is taking up my phone's storage under the "other" listing. I have no idea what it is and I even tried to plug my phone in to check it out on my pc. Though, no luck. Anyone have any ideas? I'm going to reset the phone as a last resort, since this category is taking up over 5gb of my phone's memory, and it's growing.

Ok I did a reset and now my other category is taken up by 409.17mb instead of 5gb. I'm going to monitor the storage to see what is taking up so much room there.

my guess is app data. The app itself may be relatively small, but save states and stored data for apps are "other." downloaded maps and GPS voices, Nokia music's downloaded channels would be sizable "other" downloads

Same here. Battery drained overnight with no background tasks running. I hope MS will address this issue soon.

i've had camera problems with my 920. when i press the camera button, it does the little animation but then goes right back to the start screen. same thing when pressing the dedicated button to turn on the camera. so i downloaded a seperate camera app trying to access it from there but all that comes up is a black screen. does anyone have this problem? i took a video of it if you guys don't know what i mean...

I see why so many people gravitate towards the iphone, its just a well put together device. The Lumia is pretty, after that I would call it a failure, there are just so many bugs, how did they expect to pass this off as a top notch device. Just because you add powerful hardware doesn't mean you have a powerful device. The L920 is too big and heavy of a phone to lug around when half the features don't work or are not available on a certain carrier, etc. In my opinion the mango update was great,Wp8 suffers from the same bugs WP7 users consistently complained about. If people who purchased these wp8 lumia devices returned them back to the store it would send Nokia a clear message(I say Nokia because that's the only one I've tried) that we want a useable phone and not some bait and switch crap you put together.

i agree. and they knew all of the problems all along. that's why they were selling it at such a cheap price (for a flagship) along with the $50 wireless charger for free. never again will i fall for nokia

Has anyone heard of double posts with SMS? My friend says that sometimes my texts come in twice to his Galaxy Note.

Just noticed dust is getting to my front camera too. Yay. Amazing quality first batch. Might try to exchange (my first one) but this qc is ass. Straight up. And when people say get an 8x I just laugh. Hurry up surface phone!

I got mine this morning. Decided to use it until the battery drained all the way down. It has now been charging for 3 hours and when I try to turn it on it goes straight to the picture of a battery with a red bar. It will not turn back on.
