Bug/defect checklist for new and future Lumia 920 owners

The battery life is an enigma to me. If I'm using a native function like the people hub, message hub, email, even Internet Explorer, battery life is terrific. I can get 36 hours out of it. Once I use a third party app, whether I'm streaming audio, or just using the Facebook app, etc., battery life is horrid. It just drains like mad.

Battery life is both the best and the worst I've ever seen. So strange.

Can you select just PART of a long text to copy and paste?? Noooooooo, it must be the whole friggin thing???

Seriously, this is obviously microsoft because only they could make a phone so lacking in customization on many levels. I have this feeling in my gut if I don't take it back and go Android I'll be looking at this phone months from now like it's a big pacifier instead of something that turns my mental crank.

Don't get me wrong, it's a nice phone and has some nice features but something keeps nagging me that I choose the wrong OS the more I use it and get into the settings (or lack thereof).

Anyone else have this nagging feeling or is it just me?

There are a few quirks or limitations that I find annoying (the VC you mentioned, the email format, tracking numbers in the emails, lack of comprehensive notifications ect). Yes I know the platform is young, but you have two other platforms out there for the last 5yrs, take a look at some of their functionality and use it. Apple could spoon feed these simple things to it's flock because they were the one who kicked all this off and people are stupid. Get 150 iNerds in a auditorium and watch Forstall talk about how this is the "most magical iPhone yet. We added folders and copy and paste!!!". Everyone goes nuts like they just introduced penicillin to the world.

I got my phone Friday and have really enjoyed WP8 and the phone. Today the speaker for the earpiece on the phone started to buzz a little. It has gotten progressively worse. At times it is hard to hear what someone is saying. I will take it back tomorrow. Overall I really like the phone.

I have not had a reboot issue. After coming from the Moto Atrix that did nothing but reboot I am happy. Even if it did it only once a week I would be fine. The Atrix did it daily, often multiple times. I think a lot of this will be solved with OS updates. I wonder if some of this is related to using apps that are not yet fully WP8.

I'm experiencing the battery drain and overheating issue. Trying to remedy this by discharging the battery and hopefully it works.

I'm also having problems with super-sensitive touch not working. Is anyone else having this problem because I haven't seen it mentioned anywhere.

Is the screen supposed to be slightly brighter at the upper half of the screen or is this a defect? I'm contemplating whether or not I should get a replacement so responses would be much appreciated.

Yes this just happened to me today! In a grocery store no less on my Cyan 920! It also happened when I opened the AT&T barcode scanner and Red Laser too.

After the market update today, when I receive a phone call I can't hear the person on the other end unless it's on speaker. Is anyone else experiencing this?

On a positive note the ring volume issue is now fixed for me

I had something wrong with display when I started. It was same whether sensitivity was on or not. I turned it again ON and tried again with gloves but this time pressing pretty hard on screen and somehow that woke up the display and its sensitivity. I don't know what happened but now its just like advertised, really sensitive and the difference between on and off is really big.

edit. Random reboots has now achieved admirable high, even number, ten(10) to be exact. Sure hope that MS will provide the OTA update 1.12, otherwise have to exchange this.

I am listening to a podcast through the headphones and the volume won't change, using the volume rocker on the phone, the rocker on my headphone jack or the buttons on-screen. I can turn the volume from 00 to 30, but the volume won't change at all. I can switch to a music track, and the volume works normally. Whatever volume I leave the music at is the volume the podcast will play at when I switch back to the podcast.

This has happened to me twice. The second time it happened, yesterday I think, I restarted the phone and it solved the issue.

I read today that they found the reasons for the reboots and MS will provide a fix in December.

My Lumia 920 has now rebooted three times in two weeks [twice on Tuesday] *sigh*. We have a technology day in work today and the Nokia rep said they're expecting the OTA fix in December - hopefully the news coming from multiple sources mean it's a guarantee before the end of the year!

I had the exact same issue yesterday. Restart solved it.
One additional issue that I have is that sometimes when I plug in the earphones, the sound still comes through the speaker. This is especially annoying in work environment. I have to always remember to turn the volume down, plug the earphones and check if the sound switched properly.

I hope that this is a software rather than hardware issue and that it can be fixed with future update.

Otherwise, the phone is great. I have not had any issues with the battery, reboots, etc.

Hi guys wanted to post an update as I got an answer to most of my questions.

I was having battery problems as well, where it would be like 20% when I woke up and Id have to constantly tether-charge at home/work to keep it going.

I disabled NFC and almost all the background tasks and it was still happening. I turned off push email (15 min instead, same problem with iphone, it just phones home too much) and that helped but it still drained fast.

I get to work and put it on the desk, after an hour i pick it up and its warm and at 40%! Then I realize its uploading to skydrive all my vids and pictures once it came into contact with my work wifi!
I disabled skydrive uploading, turned on battery saver mode, and intentionally watched vids and played games until the battery hit 10%. Then fully charged it.

I went the whole day with it in my pocket with normal use (few phone calls, wifi enabled, check email a few times), and it was 80% when I went to bed.

On another note, the night video on this thing is incredible. We went to a xmas lights show and the vid crushed the still pics of my canon SLR. Dark darks and the lights looked the same color as my eyes, as opposed to the SLR toning down the lights (overload) and the blacks were more of a dark red.

EDIT: Also, no random reboots for me, i do have the discoloration on the back of the black model though

My Issues on a Black Lumia 9/20 bought on release day:

1. Rebooted last night for the first time while trying to voice dial.
2. The camera auto focus is jacked. I touch the screen, it focuses perfectly, then I watch it go out of focus and it takes that picture. I've tried using auto focus through the physical button as well.
3. It was fixed today, but for days it kept saying I needed to download the extras+info app, but would error out when I tried.
4. I have to turn Bluetooth off and on if I turn my car on and off twice in a short period of time (15-20 minutes), because it loses the Bluetooth connection. Works fine otherwise. (EDIT) So, I played with this, and it's when I lose Bluetooth connection while the car is on. Example, I run into the store, but my wife stays in the car with it on. When I come back I have to keep turning Bluetooth on and off on the phone to get it to reconnect.
5. Xbox Music licensing is jacked. Songs I can download on my computer can't be downloaded on my phone, and vice versa. (EDIT) Now it has started to download songs twice for some reason. So it plays every song twice.

Microsoft's reps are also bugged. I told the one at AT&T that I was going to wait until they added VPN to pick up a WP8 phone, and he told me that it was there. Bought it, and it wasn't there like I thought. Win!

The stuff that works does work great though.

There are two glitches I believe to be in every Lumia 920. If you play music while taking multiple photographs, the music will stop being audible. It will continue to play but you must restart the phone to hear music from the music app. This may only occur with shutter noise on, I haven't tested without.

If the phone screen goes to sleep on its own and you tap it just as it does, you'll get a lock screen without a clock. You can unlock, but then pressing the power button will return the lock screen even though the phone is already unlocked.

I'm on my 3rd Lumia 920.

Anyone finding that when holding the phone at certain places and applying very slight pressure on the edge of the phone will make a "cheap plastic" rubbing noise? This is really annoying and just today I found a new "creaking noise" then i apply pressure with one hand on the screen and back of phone. The phone feels like its starting to "fall apart" on me. It doesn't feel like the quality of how the phone was put together is great. I hope I'm not the only one with this problem. I've never had issues of the phone not feeling "solid" with my iphone 3gs and 4.

Does anyone else have this hardware problem?

P.S. I've already returned this phone once because of this. My second phone wasn't making any noise but had major software issues and this is currently my 3rd Lumia 920. I really don't want to have to revert back to apple

Instead of creating a new thread, i thought i'd ask it here.

I've the original Zune monthly pass (unlimited streaming + 10 songs/month). I thought it would work on the new Xbox music app but for some reason whenever i try to download a song, it asks to pay for it on my phone. Does anyone know how to download it using those 10 credits ?
