Bug/defect checklist for new and future Lumia 920 owners

I think it's clear WP8 was rushed out the door in a Alpha/Beta state.. Let's just hope Microsoft is working hard on the first update..

Could you give more details of your analysis? Because for me, my phone becomes hot suddenly without me doing anything then my battery drains to about 10% in less than 30 mins. And this happens only when my data is on. But with Wifi, no issues for me. I already checked my apps running in background but I already blocked them and some I already uninstalled but still my battery drains very fast.

My location is off, I don't have the Nokia drive, Facebook accout is in sync but filtered out in my contacts, brightness is low, touch sensitivity is normal.

My phone died when I got a call over Bluetooth. Nokia Support said that Microsoft will be providing a fix in December.

Ok, here goes. Unable to send / recieve text messages. Not recieving emails. Opening apps are sending me straight back to home screen. Become extremely slow at loading. Games are crashing. This is all out of the blue, my 920 has worked wonderfully for a week... Not sure what to do.

call ur provider, asked thm to check ur data settings

I am getting a high pitch sound when playing anything over bluetooth. Even with system sounds like ringtones I can hear a high pitch sound. I have tried it on a number of different bluetooth speakers and headphones. Not sure if software or hardware issue.

same happened to me over the weekend after a couple minutes of Angry birds Space, looked like a stuck system process. I soft reset the phone, it went back to normal (read: outstanding) battery performance :)

I've purchased a sim free 920 on Saturday and it has locked up maybe 15 times so far!
This morning (Monday) its crashed at least 4 times on the journey into work whilst I was trying to send a text and whilst watching a video. :(
I guess I have a defective handset maybe:unhappysweat:?

i've had camera problems with my 920. when i press the camera button, it does the little animation but then goes right back to the start screen. same thing when pressing the dedicated button to turn on the camera. so i downloaded a seperate camera app trying to access it from there but all that comes up is a black screen. does anyone have this problem? i took a video of it if you guys don't know what i mean...

Hello,
I have the same camera issue. It crashes and goes back to start screen with every app using the camera.
Different flashlight apps can't run the flash camera too.

Did you find a solution yet ?

Added the texting issue to the list. I'm really beginning to regret this purchase, and I've been a loyal Nokia fan for a long time.

I have an issue with native apps. I think its related to the OS itself. It doesnt happen when I restart the phone, but when it happens it force close my app. for example, I was browsing website with IE, the app randomly closed. Apps like IE, Nokia Map, weather, Nokia Drive Beta +, they force close or cant be open. When it happens I click to open the app, the app opened and closed right the way without entering into the app's UI. anyone has this issue? (Nokia Lumia 920 ATT)

I have a serious issue I have not yet seen yet. As of a few hours ago, it seems my 920 activates the proximity sensor whenever I make or accept a call, regardless whether I have the phone close to my head or not.

I cannot actively end a phone call because my screen is locked and black.

I've managed to hit the "end call" button in a 1/4 or 1/2 split second when it appears if I press the power/screen lock button twice in a row, but it's very touch and go.

Has anyone else had anything like this?? I'm really really annoyed.

Are you using a case that is setting off the proximity sensor?

Vibration rattle
This might not even be considered a defect. This is just how the phone vibrates. The Lumia 900 was the same. There's no need to exchange your Lumia 920 for this issue.

Are you effin kidding me!? I've been waiting 2 weeks for nothing then! But my rattle was OVERWHELMING, it litterally sounded like the phone was gonna crack at any minute, so I got it exchanged. But I'm still waiting since they don't have any Lumia 920's in stock. So ****ing annoyed now!!

Oktay: if it sounds abnormal thats not "just how it vibrates", since mine did not. It means some component isnt fastened correctly and you DEFINITELY need to get it replaced :s . Good call.

Hi all

I have a white Nokia Lumia 920 on EE in the UK. No matter what I do, I cannot get app voice commands to work. So, for example, if I install Toggle or Battery Moitor w/ Voice Commands, neither commands work and if I activate voice commands and then say "What can I say?" neither show up in the apps section of the help tile.

I even reset my phone, bricked it and then had to recover it with Nokia Care Suite and am now feeling a bit stupid that that didn't work.

Can anybody else confirm that app voice commands are working on a Lumia 920 from EE?

Thanks and God bless

Andrew

Bought a black Lumia 920 on the day it was released state-side (11/9/12) and love using it. I had bought it in store and got it no problem (charging plate took a month to finally ship, but it did ship and works wonderfully). Six days later, I noticed my flash wasn't working anymore and doing soft/hard resets back to factory settings did nothing to fix it. Went back to the retail store and got it replaced since I was within my 14 day return/replace period (11/16/12).

Second phone worked wonderfully as well and flash was operational and shining bright. Just over two short weeks later, I try to use my flash again to take a picture... yay. No flash.

I attempt to do the basics of resetting the phone (as both techs at Nokia and AT&T ask that you do anyways) by doing a soft reset. No change. I then proceed to move onto a hard reset. Phone takes it and moves onto the spinning gears shortly afterwards. I let them sit and then just go on to bed with it plugged-in (it was around 3-4 am when I did the resets). Woke up the next morning and checked on the phone to notice it hasn't changed at all. Tried a reset as I had it lock up once on my first phone and that fixed it (when I had reset the phone in the first week of owning a Lumia 920), but unfortuanately it did not help and just reset it to show the AT&T logo followed by the Nokia splash screen. No matter what reset I've done, it just reset to the splash screens.

I know have a bricked phone and will be shipping it back to Nokia.

In the end, I think my local store recieved a bad batch as the Lumia 920 that was shipped directly from Nokia to my father is still working flawlessly (he order a few days prior to release and got his a few days afterwards). I dropped the second phone once, it was pulled out of my pocket by my headphones snagging on something, but it didn't seem to take any damage other than a light scratch on the corner and everything worked fine (flash included).

Let's just hope they can fix the flash issue and get me a un-bricked working phone.

Had my first battery drain today. Phone rebooted while updating an app. After it rebooted, the phone proceeded to battery drain. I'm monitoring it right now to see if it's still draining. A bit concerned right now.

Edit: Does it take a approximately 1-2 second for the Lumia to recognize it's been plugged into a charge? That's how mine does it.

I've had that issue and other times using the same plug in a different location (socket, USB port on comp, car USB, car lighter charger, etc.) it seems to be instant or ever slower. My car's USB takes about 5 seconds and it probably a 0.5amp charge. Also, using my plug off of the powerstrip I usualy have my phone chargers hooked up to results in 1-3 seconds of delay and the wireless on it has about a 1-2 second delay. Plug the same chargers directly into the wall and I noticed an instant charge with the wireless and a 1-2 second delay on the plug.

Suffice to say, it should be normal to have a slight delay (tested over two L920's).
