Calendar live tile & reminder broken after WP 8.1 Update installed

My HTC 8S had WP 8.1 (8.10.12397.xxx) all summer via Preview for Developers. I came across this article from windowsitpro.com (...windows-phone/even-htc-8s-included-latest-windows-phone-81-update) on Oct 30 and was very happy to find out that I could get Cortana (I'm in Canada) working after all.

I was only able to upgrade to 8.10.14192.280 after 2 hard resets. There was no way I could get the 622 Mb needed for the phone update, even after deleting everything.

The 1st hard reset didn't allow me to log in with my Microsoft account. After an hour of fiddling, I decided to do another hard reset. This time I was asked if I wanted to restore my backed up setting, to which I said yes. Cortana works, folders on start screen works...

Unfortunately, some essential Calendar app features no longer work:
- the live tile only shows a STATIC grid and the word "calendar",
- the lock screen doesn't show any of my appointments,
- the appointment reminder doesn't trigger any sound nor visual cue

Note that Cortana sets reminders but doesn't act on them when the time comes.

Any ideas on how to fix this? Workarounds welcomed too!

I did another hard reset. Everything A-OK!
