The curious case of the Lumia 525 | TechCentral
Basically the L520 is selling so well at R2000 that our service providers or Nokia dont want to bring out the 525 as its older hardware is cheaper and it would sell for about the same price as the 525, this means more profit.
Note the 525 has 1GB RAM and comes with the latest Black update (it has double tap to wake) but everything else is the same as the 520.

Please help by sending emails to Nokia or one of our service providers. Or post on their facebook wall. I already have.
Hopefully if they get enough pressure from the public, they will have to bring out the 525 soon. Currently it looks like they will only bring it out in 17 months when many African nations already have it except us.
