Went to the local AT&T store and they weren't able to get me LTE either. They suggested taking it to the local AT&T repair shop whose expertise is greater.

Anyone have the proper AT&T settings for the Internet APN for this phone?

Update: I found this page which looks helpful: https://forums.windowscentral.com/e...ml%23%21%2Fwireless%2FKB424489&token=ELUwKcIx

Thanks for the update! Definitely let us know if/how you were able to get the LTE set up.
I did go ahead and pick up a 650 last night. I haven't set it up or even gotten it out of the box yet. We'll see if I hang onto it or take it back.
I really appreciate all the replies in this thread.

Alas, the APN settings listed on this page didn't work for me; all it did was block all data entirely. I'll have to take it into the local AT&T repair store to assure the right SIM in in, etc.

Here is right from the booklet of my North American Lumia 650:

Check that up against your provider and you should be set.

Thanks! There has been a suggestion that, yes it is compatible with AT&T's LTE, but it may be a matter of getting the correct APN settings. I haven't activated the sim on my 650 yet (just setting it up with wifi right now), but hopefully I can mess around with all this this weekend.

Should the APN settings on a 950/xl on AT&T be the same as those on a 650 on AT&T? If so, I wonder if a 950/xl owner would be so kind as to post their settings. Maybe those listed on the AT&T page are out of date.

FWIW .. Band 17 is also not listed on AT&T specs for the 950.

4G-LTE: Bands 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 12, 13, 20, 29, and 30

This must have something to do with 17 being a subset of 12, as mentioned above.

Crazy that AT&T ssays the 950 does not have band 17, but MS says it does. https://forums.windowscentral.com/e...osoft-Lumia-950%2F8VFXGK4QT1Q3&token=ULFsma3s
Are these companies just posting random specs? LOL. This is bananas.

I'm getting LTE with AT&T and T-Mobile. Attached are the screenshots and the default AT&T APN settings (everything below the shot is blank). I'm going to try the "nxtgenphone" APN settings from my AT&T-branded Samsung Galaxy S7 edge to see if it helps speed things along. The phone is still relatively new and so there are still a bunch of background processing going on so I don't trust my speed tests yet.

EDIT: Using the Lumia 650 Dual SIM from the Microsoft Store / San Antonio, TX, USA

Thanks Matthew. Looks like the default internet APN, and you probably have no MMS APN setting. I'm curious what your firmware and OS levels are, and what LTE speed you're enjoying from AT&T.

My version: 1511
My OS: 10.0.10586.164
My firmware: 01078.00037.16082.41001
My hardware revision number: 3.0.6.0
My radio software version: 10c56.00018.0001
My Chip SOC version: 8909

I seem to be averaging "only" 8MB speeds with AT&T but got faster ones with T-Mobile (~18MB) ... perhaps I should've stayed with T-Mobile. Anyway, my firmware versions are the same as yours but my OS is 10.0.14295.1000 version 1511.

I have my SIM chips in my L640 (refreshed to the same OS and apps as my L650) to see if it feels more responsive than my L650. Love the looks and feel of the L650 but it feels more sluggish than I expected. We'll see...

After no luck with phone support, and then with store support, I took the L650 into the AT&T regional support shop today, and they, too, weren't able to get anything better than 4G on this device.

The supervisor at the AT&T shop even used their own SIM card which he said will work with anything, and at best he was able to have the device show a speed selection drop-down, but 4G was the highest he could pick from.

So I ran the Device Recovery Tool, installed the OS fresh, and am downloading the available update.

I'm wondering where the OS 14295.1000 comes from? Is it an insider update? Out of the box, mine came with 10586.107, and the available public update is 10586.164.

I've tried the default APN settings and those listed on the AT&T page (the NXTGENPHONE settings). I end up with 4G under both. With default APN, I get about 5mb/s, and under nxtgenphone, I get only about 2mb/s. On my Lumia 920, I was getting about 18mb/s. Darn.

This afternoon I signed up with T-Mobile, and do enjoy LTE speeds on that network. Still have the AT&T account, but it's SIM card has been moved to slot 2, and I might end up porting the old number over next month.
