Coming into WP7 from webOS. Someone give me the crash course?

Regarding live tiles, they are really slick and do help get over missing webOS notifications. Do a little research on the current 15 live tile limit that MS imposes and what that means for your phone by combing the forums. Not all live tiles are created equal is the issue.

Just in case anyone's curious by the way, that live tile limit only applies to tiles that use the "Push" live tile method (the one that updates a count number and the tile title text). If apps use the "Pull" method where they grab a new tile image from a web address according to a schedule defined by the developer (most frequent possible is hourly) then they don't count towards the 15 tile limit.

For an example of the pull tile if you're in the UK, check out Lawrence Gripper's 'BBC News Mobile', works very well and is free (and no I'm not affiliated with it at all)

Two other good "pull" live tile apps: Weather Channel and Urban Dictionary.

Oh, man, this entire thread.

I love you guys so much.

By the way, I found a guy on Craigslist who's willing to trade his Focus for my Pre2, for sure if I can find the headphones that came with it, but probably anyways if not.

That sounds too good to be true, I'll be careful.

I've already met the guy and he's super cool, he just wants to sell it. I also go to play with his Focus for a bit and it's in great condition. He also just called me and told me he'll be coming down from Selma today so I should have it soon.

I had WEBOS for a very short time I didn't like the hardware at all so I made the move to Android so I don't have much in comparison for you. I am so glad the Sprint finally got a WP7 device. My opinion is that of all the big OS's available WP7 is the most productive. I get more done and the nicest thing isn't just whats in the phone its whats available outside the phone like Skydrive, XBOX and Hotmail integration. MS has made cloud computing a major part of the Windows Phone life. In the short time I have had my Arrive I am getting so intertwined with the cloud I don't know how I would do things without it.

Anyways welcome to the WPC get that device and start enjoying let us know if you have any questions as you can see from this thread we love to help... ;)

I hope it goes perfect then so we can welcome you to our family.

Everything went fantastic! Time to welcome Angel's Focus into the WP7 family!

Gripes I already have? Charging this thing is EXCRUCIATINGLY difficult. I can't plug it into the wall (as I found when the battery died completely and I plugged it in over night and nothing) so I have to charge via USB, which is painfully slow. I only just figured this out earlier this morning. So brotip? NEVER LET THE BATTERY GET LOW.

Otherwise it's great 8D

Too bad about that.
My Optimus battery is a breeze, it charges in like two hours and I haven't charge it since yesterday.

Try looking into new quick chargers online, The Focus uses a Micro-USB outlet so it won't be too hard to find a viable option. How are you enjoy that focus screen huh?

Oh, the screen is brilliant, like a breath of fresh air after having been confined to 3.1 inches of 320*480 since October. I'm genuinely pleased with it.

As for quick charging online, I definitely want to look into it, since USB charging is just...not doing it for me. If I do anything while it charges, the battery gets depleted anyways. Which brings me to my other issue of having to go into Diagnostics to check the exact battery percent. Irritating, but I can live with it.

I always have the screen on low also. It's takes away from the beauty of it but it really multiplies the length between charges.

Quick tip. You don't actually need the Me title, when you go to people just click on your picture and it will take you there.

Well if you have an unlimited plan why not turn off Wifi? Bluetooth also since both are battery drainers.
Actually, if you are only getting a 1-2 bar signal, WiFi is more energy efficient. 1.7Mbps vs. 7.8Mbps makes a big difference. WiFi has been optimized with WP to make good use of the battery. I almost never turn it off. Yes, with an unlimited plan I sometimes feel cheated, but downloading faster and streaming better, along with better battery management, is a win all around for me. With WiFi on, I went from 1.3GB/m to about 200MB/m.

Curious about why you can't plug it into the wall? It sounds like the charger is faulty if nothing happened as I have an Omnia 7 (kinda like the UK version of yours) and I can charge the phone from the wall if the battery is absolutely flat (which I have done several times)

Well, it seems as though, when the battery is completely flat, the wall charger (i.e. the USB cable with a USB>Mains adapter) doesn't have enough power to get the Focus up and running. However, once I've got it on the Start screen at least, if I plug it into the mains, all of a sudden, it's a viable solution to charge my phone. Not better than USB, but I can still charge that way. I just have to make sure that the battery NEVER dies on me.

Yah there's something wrong here. Your AC charger should not only charge a fully flat battery, but should charge faster than USB. I'd get a new charger if you don't have an extra lying around.
