Cortana not responding to voice

I started up Cortana trying to do a simple task and she keeps saying "sorry I didn't catch that". I've turned the phone off and, switched Cortana off and on but nothing works. Typing commands work and so does my mic, I'm running the Lumia 520 any help will be greatly appreciated.
